Anyone know if anywhere local sells (and hopefully in stock) a stator for a 2005 R6? I’m fairly certain mine is no good and I need something I can have put in by tomorrow (Americade).
Thanks
Call Troy City, they might rape you price wise but they would probably have it.
wow, talk about bad timing…

I wonder if they have next day shipping.
might be able to have it rewound at an alternator or starter rebuild place. I know of one in albany that YettiVR got his vw alternator rebuilt at and it was a hell of a deal and works great.
I can do $3.99 next day shipping, but it won’t get here until after I have to leave tomorrow. I’m not even 100% sure it is the stator, but I can’t find whats wrong.
With the battery low (would not start) I tested the voltage while off and I had 10.2v. Then I pop started it and I was getting 9.2v at idle; 13.2v at 2k rpm; 13.2v at 4k rpm; and 13.2v at 6k rpm.
I also tested for parasitic draw and was only getting .1 with my meter set to 200m (its been a while since I’ve used my meter for amperage but if I’m reading that correctly, its only .1 milliamps which is nothing). But if the bike sits more than a couple days the battery dies. If I pop start it and keep the rpms up, it will ride fine (battery doesn’t keep dying) but as soon as I shut it off, it dies again. The battery is only a month old. Its a magna exterme powersports battery from advance.
I’m going to test it again as soon as I get home since the battery has been charging since yesterday around 5:00 and see if anything changes but its driving me up a damn wall.
You can borrow my battery if you want to test it or you can just borrow it for tomorrow. Gonna stay home anyway cause I have a ton of yard work to do and working on my sv.
Next day shipping doesn’t mean it would be here tomorrow just an FYI (unless Saturday delivery is an option) UPS and Fedex work off of business days so it would actually be at your house Monday.
If its going USPS then yes its possible to get it tomorrow.
Its with amazon prime so its $3.99 for one day with Sat. delivery. Even my receiver came on a saturday and it was by Fedex or ups
Update:
After having the battery on charge all night/day I decided to give another full test. This time it was as follows (nothing changed)
Off: 12.7v
Idle: 12.2v
2k: 13.5v
4k: 13.5v
6k: 13.5v
The parasitic draw did not change.
Then I decided to try disconnecting a few components to see if anything changed.
First pulled the fuse for the alarm and got nothing. Then I pulled the main power line off for my HID’s (10ga wire power and 10ga ground) and my voltage instantly went up throughout. Idle was now pushing about 14.2v and 2k+rpm was pushing around 14.6. So the problem apparently lies with the HIDs.
I’m thinking that maybe it is the stator and that it is still working, but doesn’t have enough power to run the bike (with the HIDs) and charge the battery. Which would explain why as long as I have the rpms up and not just idling, the bike runs fine… but it won’t keep a charge. Does this sound somewhat close or am I way out in left field?
Sounds about right, especially with your gen R6, did you call Troy City they are still open, I think until 7pm, make some calls Kenny.
Well, glad you sort it out.
Troy city and phibbs were both a negative. I may just order it from amazon and then for tomorrow I’ll just keep the headlights off during the day. Even if I do run it with them on, it will still run fine… just may need to keep pop starting it. lol.
But I don’t know that for sure… that is just my guess… lol. Hopefully after $120 part it won’t be a complete waste… lol.
