Convertible winter beater. Awesome idea.
I would tackle this Only because looking under the hood is a complete nightmare and I WANT to clean that up…BUT for the price Go for it if you want too
Why would you want a convertable for a winter car and I just wanted to repeat how much a broken CIS system blows.
I would only be driving the car this winter while fixing it then giving it to my girlfriend.
but i don’t need something i have to wrry about breaking down on her
cis imo is simple theres fuel going through the tank then the fuel pump then the accumulator to the fuel filter in to the fuel distributor then vacume from a the fuel plate(i call it) whitch is in the air box raises and with vacume from the engine opens the fuel distributor and sends fuel to the injector. the common problems with this setup is the fuel plate gets dirty or little criters get in there.
if you know any of us older vw guys we most likly have alot of cis systems if u need a hand let me know. o and another thing that goes bad with these is the ignition part behind the key most of the time from moisture from bad seals from the roof. check for water and take a close look around windows
was it a cis E ? i thought gli’s were cis Electric more complicated regular cis is like a fu*ked up carb
Buy a civic
cis is cake on the cars that are common. jvg the 10vt is not common so it does not apply.
