Nelson Ledges Fun day 10/15/11

Guess I’m a bit of a pussy, I only entered the kink just below 110 and scrubbed a few mph through it. Not sure how that 240 did it. Top speed was 131, best lap of 1:18. I regret not getting any video.

I think they had a much larger than normal turnout…Something about a beautiful sunny day in October to end the season I guess. They had three normal run groups and one for the school. I know the ‘A’ group had around 15 cars, I picked ‘B’ and it probably had a few more, ‘C’ was 10ish and ‘D’ was smaller. We got four sessions of slightly under 20 minutes each. Had a bit of a tough time keeping clear track in front of me, only had a few clean laps in the later sessions when I was getting more comfortable. A surprising amount of pretty impressive machinery showed up. There were a handful of cars off the track but just people getting stuck in the mud. Luckily none of my sessions were cut short.

The track is a ton of fun and kind of subtly complex. I can’t imagine how long it might take me to figure out the carousel and I know I am still butchering oak tree too. It is quite bumpy, felt pretty rough in my car.

Overall, a great value at $130.

We did it because it’s a Lemon with a cage and it was scary/funny to step the ass end at those speeds. Doing that in a Z06 wouldn’t instill too much confidence considering possible consequences. And I haven’t checked mylaps.com, but I’m pretty sure you set fastest lap in the 240 so I guess that means I have no room to call you a pussy

Assumably it was Garick that set 1:26.302 on Saturday (stock 240SX, stock suspension, 205/55 700 treadwear tires).

Andy, you ran 1:26.441 on your 2nd to last lap Sunday (stock 240SX, stock suspension, 225/50 300-400 treadwear tires).

The 200SX’s best was 1:24.925 (very lightened, mild suspension, 205/50 200 treadwear tires), with little grip in the rear, definitely had more in her, but I was driving conservatively (something about saving the car…).

My old NX2000 (135 whp and +200 to 300lbs, not lightened, medium suspension, 205/50 R-comps) best was 1:21.xxx, if we could have gotten R-comps on the 200SX it would be very deep into the 'teens.

My best lap at Nelson was 1:20 with a top speed of 115, this is in a 02 Mustang GT on R comps

This track has way more to do with driver ability/bravery than hardware. My best this weekend was a 1:20:04 on starspecs. Admittedly I had very little clear track, and I drove like a big sissy all day.

Sweet, thank you for looking that up as I’ve been lazy.

And for the 200sx…:picard:

I went in on a Saturday in June and there were only two run groups, which dwindled down quickly. I had as much tracktime as I wanted, basically open/free track. I would of thought the turnout would be bad late October.

I would not have called the nissan being so quick
