Neon and NT DSM bois and girls, school me on the 420a

it may have a different name in the neon world.

i have heard A583 (something like that) before instead of 420a

but regardless, it is the same motor. the only difference between the 2.0L dohc neon motor and the 2.0L dohc nt dsm motor is PERHAPS the name. i also think the head reversed when comparing the two as well.

i dont even believe they made a sohc 2.0l avenger… in fact, im 99.9999% sure they didnt. all 2gnt dsms (non convertible) were dohc as well. there were 2.0L sohc neons, but they shared the same block as the rest…

yeah, thinking back your right, it was mike’s neon that was SOHC and joes is DOHC and then i have another friend with a 420a avenger. the difference between the 420a and the neon d4re is that the head is reversed

same block reversed head

yep… that info is correct…

2gnt dsm motor = dohc neon motor with reversed head = chrysler motor = 420a

turbo dsm motor = not neon motor at all = mitsubishi motor = 4g63

its very easy to attain 300+ whp out of the 2.4 dohc. not out of the 420a/d4re, theres a couple mopar brothers in west seneca, they have i bleev 3 built neons and a shelby daytona. the fully built n/a neon is only putting down like 210 whp if i remember correctly. the turbo sohc im not too sure about. but ive done an assload of research on the 420s/d4re and its not too logical to dump alot of money into them. but then again we boosted my frends 98 420a eclipse and its been runnin strong at 8psi for months now, not ot mention the car has 1115k+ on it. to the motor is reliable, but at low boost.

back to the question howie…tell that kid to stfu and come back when he knows what hes talking about

ps, the dohc 420a/d4re head flows much better than the lotus designed turbo IIhead that camein the daytonas
