Here’s a quote from Jeremy Blackwell regarding (APU) Supra’s value currently for those who are interested (i.e the 10 PMs I got about the price of Supra’s currently) :
Price Range: $45 - $60k:
The upper end/collector quality Supras with nicely done upgrades such as: Stand alone AEM, a large single turbo, Upgraded Fuel System, Upgraded Clutch, cams, 700-900+ wheel HP range for a clean show quality Supra with low mileage, but most likely will have a stock block.
Price Range: $60k - $75k is the range for Supras that have things such as a built motor, Built Head, Virtual Works Quality Manifolds, RPS Carbon/Carbon Clutch and 1,000+ Wheel HP, pristine show quality Supra usually DO NOT have a Tilton Clutch or may or may not have upgraded brakes, but definitely should have some bad ass wheels
Price Range: $75K-100k+ This is a Ken H type of Supra. These are the elite Badboy Supras that are “top of the heap” so to speak with some being 8 sec capable Supras that are also street cars. While the sky is the limit for upgrades in this price range they will often have: a built 3.4 stroker motor, Tilton Clutch, Improved Engine Management, Upgraded Brakes, etc. With factors creating higher demand in this price range being: Last year (1998), colors such as RSP, Quicksilver, Black/Black, Extremely low mileage, and Hardtop Turbos are also rare and bring a premium.
ive been in some very fast cars, but each car responds differently even with the same HP, or close to it. Mike from Synapse red civic felt so brutal, where as rays Supra was a less dramatic type fast even with the differences in power, i know the weight is much different, but 600ish whp on low boost for the supra, 450ish on pump, wastegate for mikes car. both are animals
very nice supra… what turbo is that? also since this is an mk4 supra there were 3 other generations before it? i’m really don’t know much about supras at all. :ponder
Supras are becoming even more rare casue all the IS/SC/GS/LS lexus guys are scarfing up the 2j’s and now the v160 getrag can be made to fit the 1uz.
I have seen a recent movement of dyno queen supra guys buying 1uz’s after gernading their 2j’s or just straight trading some SC/GS guys motor for motor.
