so i have narrowed my car chocies down to 2… a celica gts( i think thats right the 180 hp one) or a hyundai tib. gt… what are the pros and cons of each one… what do u think it better let me know ur input… im leaning more towards the tibby gt casues its a 6
tib’s 6 sucks
yamaha’s 4 is betta, but what year celica are you going to get? Some of them (I think 2002+) have craptastic revlimiters set before redline…
celica GTS makes 190Hp i think
PS. celica’s hold value better…
Celica all the way. Drove those two back-to-back with the Cougar 2.5L and a stick tC. 2500 lb. car - 1.8L is a screamer in that. I like the Tiburon’s bottom end, but the driving experience is just better in the Toyota. Better shifter, better seats, nicer interior. Best of the four hands down - but couldn’t find a stick RSX-S where I was looking pricewise. My $0.02.
celica hands down
GT-S is a fun little car
just curious, what process narrowed it down to those two cars? Im not knocking either car, just wondering what you are looking to get out of them
The tib GT m/t is possibly the worst car I have ever driven that was supposed to be sporty. Very sloppy clutch and shifter. Also did not feel quick. The GT-S feels quick and has the wanna be VTEKZYO. Which makes it fun.
Both of my friends had a celica gts and a tib gt v6. The celica was ok in power. It has intake, header and exhaust and it beat a spec v with the same mods. the tib gt had a intake and whooped the spec v. Without the intake the spec v got him though so intakes make a big difference.
i was really deciding between the gts and the tC myself, I drove both back to back… the gts def handled better (nothing my TRD springs and sways haven’t fixed though) but the power curve on the gts is really what turned me off to the car, there was hardly anything below 5k where the tC, though it didn’t pull as hard at redline, already had some decent pull down at 3k. I don’t know about you but I don’t drive around up at 5k on a regular basis. The interior on the celica was a little tight too, Im a smaller guy but that interior was really small compared to the tC’s. I also drove a tib gt v6 6spd and was not impressed, the quality wasn’t there that the toyotas had, the tranny wasn’t as smooth, and the engine didn’t pull any harder despiting being a v6.
My advice to you, go out and drive all 3 of them and see what you like the most, the choice was pretty clear to me and the resale on the toyotas is going to stay strong (look at 2 year old tC’s going for just about new). I also enjoyed the glass roof on the tC, the stock pioneer stereo, and the stock rims on it. It just seemed to be the better value to me. With some basic suspension upgrades it can easily outhandle a stock gts or tib, with a much more accesible powerband.
those cars would not be my choice for that price range… for reels
FWD coupes w/ stick, 10K - 14k, 2-4 yr/old, I guess. 1 car owner (winter driven), semi-project. Correct me if I’m slightly off.
How much are decent (read: not beat on like small rented dogs) S2K values?
ex used to have/has a tib gt v6. it was a fucking pos.
Celica GT-S’s float valves. So if you plan on spending a lot of time near redline I’d think otherwise. The Tib isn’t so great either from what I hear. I’d honestly re-think both of those. I’m a Toyota Tech and i’m telling you not to get that Toyota so what does that tell you? haha.
i want something with at least 180 horse and im getting an auto tranny… ive always wanted a tibby and or a celica and i fugre why not get one now… i prolyl wont buy new casue i dont have that kid of money… but what other to u guys recommend
What’s his price range? If he’s considering a Celica he must be looking at used…
dont bother with any of the above cars if your going auto, go buy yourself a kia… your killing all the fun in those cars
riiight… i dont need a manual tranny to have fun
ame way. then own a automatic cobalt for 2 years. btw those 2 cars are more cheerleader then my cobalt
Celica GTS doesn’t come with an auto I don’t think?
Auto only? ugh.
