So, while taking apart a skyline.

I think this must be the new JDM high flow turbo setup… Those little windmill things are just in there to make the whistling sound right ? I thought I would come check with you guys as I have no experiance with these things on my Hondas.

???

You must be kidding right?

edit: Here have a read: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/turbo.htm

He’s kidding guys.

Are aliens taking apart that turbo or are those latex gloves?

Mechanics latex gloves. A lot better feel then fabric plus you don’t get as much if any oil on your hands which is nice. Yes I am joking, I might be into hondas but I am not completely retarded :stuck_out_tongue: Its still the first turbo I have seen with the turbine completely gone, luckally its on the hot side… I would hate to see what would happen to the engine if it ingested little bits of a compressor wheel.

Okay good I got scared there. lol

Heh… Thats a classic… way to kill the sterotype… so why do you have your hands on a skyline? … And please dont say for parts…

Very common with RB turbo’s.

They have a ceramic exhaust wheel that like to fly apart at high boost.

nah it would just fly down the downpipe and get stuck at the cat or else right out the exhaust … pieces always get stuck in the exhaust when turboes completely let go …not the other way luckily

What stereo type is that. The car is getting the engine rebuilt. compression(165, 150, 150, 130, 100, 110). The car isn’t mine.

Needless to say something is wrong. I was talking about if the compressor wheel went. This car had a resonator and straight threw exhaust. The little bits are likely out on the highway somewhere.

agreed …and bounced a few times before beign sucked up into my new high flow turbo …“bang”

Haha, ive done that to 2 stock rb25 turbo’s now. The second one i did grenaded the compressor wheel too (took some chips off it) so dont say you never get shit in the intake, cause i did, and it definately can happen (as a result of the exhaust side going generally).

That’s not Adams RB26 is it?

Nope, I don’t know Adam very well at all. I have only talked with him a couple times.

Looks like a blown turbo is not the only issue. Here is something you guys might be able to help me with… How much of a overboar is acceptable for the rb26.

Looks like 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm depending on how much boost you want to run.

These guys say don’t go over .5 mm with 2.4 bar of boost.

These guys sell 1 mm over pistons.

http://www.modyourcar.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=2663 (0.040" = 1 mm)

At least one guy on SkylinesAustralia figures you can support up to 500 - 550 hp with 1 mm overbore.

Second hand info, but I’ll bet it’s pretty good.

Dan

Thanks for the info. I will let you know what the plan is… Here is another question. New Nismo N1 oil/water pump… requires a N1 crank.

The issue is with the width of the drive. You can modify the old crank.

The N1 pump is just a stock pump with a stiffer spring. I think the Nismo unit will swap right in, but only because I have not heard otherwise.

Here’s a good primer thread…
