my nightmare (turbo)

i pulled my hot side off to have it coated and i noticed theres little bends in the ends of the turbines, not sure why they are there. but i have an idea. how bad is this? i never had any boosting problems or any noises

thoughts on it would be nice. ive had people tell me if i seen no problems just run it even tho i may see them down the road or replace the wheel but BB turbos are expensive in parts. this shit just pushes me over the top

is ther any witness marks of contact on the houseing?

nope, im about 99.9% sure that this was the cause of it and to the people that personally know me they know the problems i went through with this thing. but on a side note i think a piece this big would destroyed the turbo

No, that’s not normal.

oh man, kevin. I feel bad for all the shit you have had to go through with this car. The only problem is that sometimes that is the breaks of daily driving a car of such caliber. High Maintenance. I would make a race car like schedule of things to check over at least once a week.

Look at it this way. It’s not a lexus.

ouch, low blow.

im at the end of my rope with this car i seriously cant cut a break with it

the high horsepower version of dos lol

time to upgrade

no reason to upgrade, next turbo is a 40r and i dont need anymore power i need traction and my manifold is made for a t3 ontop of baddd turbo lag and haveing to re une i think over 650 is good for me and with the right set up a 9sec car IF i ever get a break

I mean upgrade the car to a bimmer

was the turbo new or used when u bought it ?

are you POSITIVE that they are no marks inside the turbo scroll where it was hitting ?

were you running a filter on the car ?

how olds the turbo ?

turbo was brand new

no signs of scraping, it spun freely and the shaft isnt loose

yes i was running a filter

its a year old maybe ran for 5 months total

Good luck Kevin. Matt can make you a manifold if need be. Matt = madd 1337 welder

new manifold is already on the way

funniest thing i heard yet, i seriously roffled

god damn i feel bad for DOS

have you had the turbo apart before ? i find it incredibly hard to beleive that damage like this happened without damaging the housing

now im not doubting you AT ALL, what im thinking is that maybe its been damaged like this since before it was even shipped to you

is that possible ?

where did u buy it from?
was it all band new, or was it possibly a rebuilt unit (or possibly did they accidentaly ship you a rebuilt unit despite you having ordered an all new one?)

That sucks Kev. I would have to say something foreign whent through the turbo and not that chunk from the manifold. I say this because even at idle there is pressure in the manifold enough to push even that chunk out, there is never vacuum in a turbo manifold. I would have to assume that something feel into the turbo’s hotside during one of the many manifold removal sessions. Anything else that I have floating in my mind for what caused this would cause the car to run rough.
