New guy here

Slammed?..I was expecting it to be CRUSHED. Ya still got alot of light under that air dam…

Quote from your http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2353089/1 site:

mods to come:

-2.3 turbo engine swap (so i can toast all the ricers and chevy guys around my area)

HAHA…I don’t think a Turbo 2.3L is gonna “toast” all the ricers & Chevy Guys in the area. There are alot of FAST “ricers or chevys” on this site. I think you might wanna try a Supercharged Cobra motor or maybe a GM LSx motor in it.

Good luck to ya, though.

Welcome!!, luv mini trucks!!

:stupid::smiley: :burnout:

Welcome

when built right, the 2.3T is just as fast, if not faster than a supercharged 4.6. if it wasnt for the 2.3T being a direct bold in (and significantly cheaper to build properly) i probably would go for a supercharged 5.4 or an n/a 5.8 out of a lightning but that would make for a not so good weight distribution. id be fighting physics the whole time. and what i meant by toasting ricers and chevy guys, not on the street, at the auto X. thats also taking in consideration of how light my truck is, how much hp it’ll be making, and how evenly balanced the weight is.

Tell ‘sonic03snake’ that a 2.3L is just as fast. He’s running 10s in the 1/4 mile with a stock 4.6L bottom end, I believe. You aint gonna make a 2.3L in that truck run that without alot of $$$$$$$$$$. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but SERIOUS work. Dollar for dollar, the 4.6 is the way to go.

Not that I don’t think the 2.3L turbo would be cool in your truck. It would be different, hence it would be cool if executed correctly. Like I said, Good luck to you.

his whole 4.6 long block is stock!

Thanks 'Mater for the input.

a 4.6 would never fit in my truck unless i completely gutted the engine compartment. even then i still dont think it would fit. if i wanted an engine with some power already there, id probably go with a 5.0. the only reason id like to do the 2.3T is that you dont have to shower money into them to make power. 400hp is easily obtainable with using only junkyard parts and most 2.3T’s are built with a “make with whatcha got” attitude. im not trying to sound like a toolbag n say im gonna smoke every single vehicle on the road cuz we all kno im not. but granted that little engine will give “some” people a run for their money. also the only reason i said that a 2.3 is just as fast as a 4.6 is because there are guys out there running consistent 9’s and 10’s on a junkyard built engine (yea their using spray too but only to get off the line). but then again im not building streep/strip fast im building auto-x fast.

by the way nice full size

Welcome. I used to have a 4 cyl ranger. It liked to be airborne.:bigthumb:
Drive an S-10 now. 2/2 drop. Not too radical.

if theres a will ,there away!!

absolutly right!

Again, like I said…I wish you luck. I enjoy to see something different.

Thanks fof the kudos.

welcome

I talked to someone yesterday with a Ranger. He found a 2wd Explorer with a V8 for $800. He seemed to think it would bolt right in. Are the Explorer and Ranger front ends the same size? Not sure, just an FYI - something worth researching if interested in a V8.

yea, the front ends are vary similar. its really possible to do a v8 swap with ease but there are certain things you need. ur gonna need some motor mounts for the v8 to bolt to cause the stock 4 or 6 cyl ones wont work. ur gonna need a diff transmission also. a T5 tranny will move your shifter location back about 5 inches also. special header on the driver side to clear the steering column will be needed as well. an oil filter relocation kit (complete relocate) is needed. i could go on for a little longer. if you really want some good info on a v8 swap for a ranger go to rangerpowersports.com and look in the v8 section in the forum. everything you need to kno for a basic swap is in there.
