New Member - back pt in Cap Region (exotics)

New member here. I left the Capital Region five years ago when I moved the company I founded (Status Toy Rentals, rented Ferraris, Lambos, Bentley, Vettes, Lotus, Maserati, etc) to Scottsdale, AZ.

Sold the company over two years ago, have a 2012 LP-550-2 Spyder. Will be back in the Capital Region - at least part time after I close on a house in the Clifton Park area.

I used to do a lot of Saratoga Auto Museum events, and some NYC area fun runs, so looking to see what the exotic scene is like now (literally haven’t even visited family back in Cap Region since Sept 2007).

Welcome. Beware of Autofocusphotography.

Exotic scene is busy during july/august with track season. Theres a few others floating around other times of the year. Welcome aboard. Is your lp 550 yellow?

welcome, i have a lot of family in the car business in scottsdale az. like boostcreep said, track season is when everything comes out it seems.

No, it’s blue.

I moved out of Scottsdale at the end of April for Las Vegas to work at a firm brokering hotels and gaming properties, but curious who your family is? Scottsdale is only 250k people, so everyone that did anything in the car business, especially the exotic and luxury end knew each other.

Paging Jim Davis.

Welcome to the forum.

All I heard was Lamborghini. :excited

If you ever want photos of it, I would be beyond exited to do so.

Welcome dude! If you want the lambo powdercoated a new color hit me up. lol

Welcome. I’m fairly new on the scene here as well.

What color blue is the Gallardo? Blu Caelum, or did you get a special order Blu Cepheus?
It’s awfully difficult to tell since they had about 6 different blues across the Gallardo line from start to present.

I’m an automotive journalist in my free time, the link to my website is in my signature.
It’s a pleasure to meet you, and I look forward to sometime seeing the car.

Yes, it’s blu caelum. I’ve owned a 2004 Gallardo in orange, and a 06 Gallardo Spyder in yellow as well.

I won’t keep this car forever, I had no intention of even owning this one, but the guy I bought it from was in a lot of trouble for unpaid taxes and literally needed to fire sale it, so I offered him just $500 more than Lambo Las Vegas and another dealer was going to pay him for it.

Now that I’m out of the exotic car rental business I won’t have more than one exotic at a time, at least until I’m worth $50M plus. Lol… I’m going to be 30 this month, so still have plenty of time to keep going.

Once the 458 Spiders become more available, I will buy one. Right now the first guys to take deliveries are getting upwards of $100G-$150G over MSRP after they put 3k miles on them. I refuse to pay the premium, and since I’ve only owned one other Ferrari (a F355 Spider), I can’t get on the list to order new.

That’s a good color, and quite rare from what I’ve seen.
What interior option did you choose? Did you go with the tan or the black?

It has a black interior with stiching. The car is all stock except for now having k40 radar detection and jamming system and 3M like clear bra on the front and mirrors.

If I was to buy a new one, it would have been white, black top and interior, with orange calipers and seat stitching. I then would have added an exhaust, and tinted the windows, added a 1000 watt plus sound system like my 2006 had, etc.

I really had no intention of buying this one, it literally fell on me for a price that I couldn’t say no to. My next exotic will be a 458 Spider, but not until they’re at least under $300G after an exhaust and all the options I’m looking for. In the meantime, at least the LP has a 36 month unlimited mileage warranty, so other than future clutches, F1 pump, and $500 oil changes, it costs me nothing.

A bargain!

How is that clear Bra stuff? Does is actually work against small debris and rock chips and is it really noticeable?

I have been strongly considering that stuff myself

I know a few people with it on, and have seen a lot of R8’s at our store with them. They do work quite well.

From what I’ve seen quite common on high(er) end cars that do track days, to protect from serious rock chips flinging off sticky tires of the car(s) in front and flying pieces of R compound tire itself.

Clear bra’s are great, too bad a good clear bra job cost $1500 or so.

What he said.

Helps a lot for people who care about their paint on track.

its not $1500 when you have been applying vinyl your whole life:tongue
