It’s as real of a Type-R as alot of others that I’ve seen.
Some yellow Vettes had better be faster. Other than hp, weight, tires, suspension and weight it’s a fair fight (see avatar at RacePa for evidence of situation).

Welcome

Be forewarned, this is a serious site with no real off topic anything. However, you can get tech down to the physical calculations behind the mod, get driving advice or setup advice. BTW - no drag racing threads either.
welcome
NICE!! Big time welcome! I’ve done a little formula ford racing but have been thinking of getting in to something that has a little more budget friendly parts availability. How are the older 'maros (82 - 92) in the CMC?
Dirty Old Georg - The older Camaros are probably a little better in CMC because of the weight advantage (new Camarobird get a 50lb weight penalty). I drive the car that I have because I got such a good deal on it. My emotional favorite is the 82-92 Camaros (3rd gens).
Locally, we only had three CMC cars this season - 2 Mustangs and me (4th gen). Two guys in Ohio are building 3rd gen Camaros for 2006 and I just got a call from a woman that runs a Mustang in the SCCA in Improved Touring and she is changing her car to CMC spec. I met her at Beaver Run in Sept. and she said she was gonna build a car. I didn’t take her seriously, but she is about done based on what she said today.
This car has caused me to lose some sleep recently:

I just love that body style and this looks like a really nice car with many parts that I would have chosen myself.
I mentioned this car to my wife and she suggested that I might be missing something else if I even think about it… I am getting to the age that her threat doesn’t carry as much weight as it used to.
:bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl:
I mean, they can reattach stuff now - can’t they?!?!?!?
I’m serious, pm me when you guys are at BeaveRun. I’m not a super crew but I’m semi good at pushing cars around - I’ll give you what ever help I can. Gearhead and I were up there in September (I think that’s when it was) for the open track day that had the Honda Challenge and I thought there was also going to be some CMC cars as well, but there only seemed to be two 'stangs for the extreme class and the red one that was there is now for sale. The Honda Challenge race was one of the best races I’ve ever seen! Big field, but I’d rather get in to something rear wheel drive. We’ll see, I need to finish some other projects up first before I buy another project.
I can understand why that car is keeping you up, and that seems like a more than fair price. It’s a shame that most of those really cool cars are out west!
The PDA taking over NASA east coast isn’t going to do anything to you guys, right?
It would be great to have someone to swear with me at the track. We’ll be running Beaver Run June 10-11 in 2006. Full regional schedule here:

Yes, both my dad and I ran Labor Day weekend at Beaver Run. It is the only time I bought pictures from the track photographer in my life. If you go here:

Then look around for an album titled “2005 Labor Day at Beaver Run” or something like that, you’ll see the pics from the event. I can’t get to webshots at work - blocked - or I’d give you a direct link. Yellow C4 is my dad and I am in the blue Firebird. For some reason, the big bore cars all broke or never made it to that weekend. Our run group was pretty small.
I saw that PDA/NASA merged on the East Coast. It doesn’t really affect us in our region, but I think it is a good thing to get the East Coast a little more organized. I’d like to take a trip up to Watkins Glen again ($$$ permitting) and run a race up there in 2006. I love that track.
