The car shouldn’t shake. Def don’t take it back until it is perfect. The vert top is only going to make some noise, not make the car shake. If you think the tires are choppy, smoke em till they are good… wash, rinse, repeat.
let’s think about this, 4 years, 6400 miles… what could fix this problem, oh yeah, 1) large burnout, 2) rotate tires 3) another large burnout 4) New tires. I think you’ll find the flat spots gone if you follow my simple instructions.
Man no one is listening to me haha. ITS GOT BRAND NEW TIRES!!! Carmax put brand new tires on it but they don’t have a road force balancer just an old shitty balancer. Its going to Ford monday where Carmax is paying for it to be diagnosed by them and balanced if needed.
Well… the Cobra is gone. The car went back and forth between Carmax and Ford for 27 days now without solving the vibration. They changed the driveshaft, ring and pinion in the rear end, 12 tires/rims and still no solution. Carmax bought it back from me. They’re sending it to a wholesale auction because they’re sick of trying to figure out whats wrong with this damn car. After doing some research theres a couple hundred more people who ended up lemon lawing their Cobras because of the same thing. I guess Ford has never found a fix for it. The search is on for a new toy I guess even though my heart is broken from losing this one.
That’s too bad. Looking for another or something different?
How bad was the vibration? too bad.
TrueBlue - I’d like another Cobra but it’d really take a great Cobra to match how well kept this one was besides the vibration. Possibly a Vette now. Not sure what direction I’m going to head.
01Audi - The Vibration could get so bad that you wouldn’t be able to see out of the mirrors because they were shaking so badly. Other times it wouldn’t even be noticeable. Something really wrong with that car.
I hear that  GL on finding a replacement, C5 Z06s are coming down in price now too.
Most “regular” digital balancers are pretty correct. That road force one is just a bunch of bull. My vettes tires are balanced on a regular digital one and they don’t shake at all, even at 150mph+
Unless by “old shitty balancer” you mean the old type where they lie the tire on its side and weigh down the light side.
Oh and if your looking at spending money look at getting a c6. The base c6 has a ls2 at 400 hp. The used c5 zo6 and c6 models are about the same prices already. (~25-30)

FTW!!! LSx Iroc 4sale neone?
balancing with road force is better then not using it. my local volvo dealer does all of my tires for cheap and use it and they use a lot less weights then any other place I’ve gone to. I like this because it means less chance of losing weights and ending up with vibration.
it’s not going to improve over a good tech using the traditional method, but it’s hard to argue that balancing the wheel vs. the rim is a good idea.
such sad news :(…i wanted a ride when i get there in feb
Its not just sad news, its terrible news. Atleast Carmax did the right thing and offered to buy it back instead of just telling me they’ll fix it eventually. Just shitty that a car with only 6,000 miles has so many problems. That car had 2 A/C compressors, 3 radios, the valve tick problem and had 1 of the heads replaced, overheated twice, and the vibration. Pretty sure its safe to say that this car was just a lemon from the factory. On to bigger and better things I suppose.
As much as it stinks now…I think you will count your blessing later as that car was probably a problem car since new and would probably spend more time getting sorted in the shop then being enjoyed.
Once you find the “next” one you will get your enjoyment!
Good Luck on the hunt
Sounds like a “Friday at 4:45” car
yep! gotta get the ones made on wednesday
