I guess inertia doesn’t play much of a role to these guys.
It plays a ton actually. There are 3 distinct “gyros” if you want to call it that. The front wheel, the rear wheel, and the crankshaft of the motor. The huge whips that these guys do rely on them to manipulate the planes with which these “gyros” are traveling on. When you go to a MX race or watch one on TV pay close attention to the rear wheels of the bikes as they jump. Every pro racer will adjust the pitch of the bike if needed by hitting the rear brake while puling the clutch in. This stops the rear tire, and causes the rear end to climb up leveling the bike out if the front end is too high. They do it all the time. If they accidentally hit a jump wrong and the ass-end is way too high they will rev the bike hard (called the panic rev) to bring the rear down a bit.
