Newman's 1986 BMW 326rb build thread.

Fixed. :hitit:

wanna PM me a mini-write up of how to set up a collector? the rest i can do.

<-------focusinprogress, my bad.

Hmm I must have left off the last part.

Updated pics of the rust fix. No clue how that got left off…

Draw flange:
Draw a few sections of pipe in the size you want.
Constrain the axis of the pipe to a point in the center of the flange.
Arrange them roughly by eye, change views a lot. Make sure the inner edge of the pipe meets the inner edge of the flange, also, protrude the pipe right through the flange.
For a 4 runner manifold, all 4 collector pipes will be the same, so choose one pipe.
Using a few workplanes, measure the angle the pipe is sitting at.
Constrain all 4 pipes to these angles, now you have x and y symmetry.
View the flange from the side and make a cut that is on plane with the face of the manifold.
Using the other 2 pipes that it is next to, make a cut that is the size of the pipe, down the length of the pipe.
Now that this one section is complete, delete all the other pipes and constrain 4 instances of this new pipe onto the collector.

Why two seperate flanges on the head side? (stupid question I know) Will that be an equal length turbo header? Is there going to be alot of stuff in the way of the header or is there alot of open room next to the motor?

EDIT: Well there be any support bars fabbed up since the turbo will be sitting on top or do you feel the header it self will be strong enough?

I will probably weld the flanges together. When i designed the headflanges about 2 or 3 years ago, i didn’t really know a whole lot about headflange design, I just copied the factor manifolds, which were 2 X 3.

It will be equal length, if it wasn’t I wouldn’t do this in cad, I’d just wing it.

There is a fair amount of room for the manifold:

That’s some 36C shit right there. :titties:

You have your bodywork in hand, then? Great progress.

205’s for the euro stretch yo

bah, just got an email from tunershop… 17X10 is no longer available in 4X100. A 5 luc conversion is a few grand… so my choices are remarkably diminished.

I’d say get Kinesis to cut you some, but they just make ricer wheels now. BBS might be an option except they just filed bankruptcy. HRE as we all know, sucks ass unless you just want a show car…

Fikse? CCW? Hopefully you can find a more off-the-shelf option.

i was thinking about these… but they are about 800 more than the Brocks…

Work VS-XX

those are hottttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt as fuck

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::hang::bloated::bloated:

Works are hot, plus not too “played out”

X…

iv been a fan of the vs-xx for a while, but i thought u didnt like those kinds of wheels? also, didnt u order wheels?

I would suggest the CCW Classics eventhough you mentioned you arent a huge fan of mesh type wheels. Ive been in contact with them for a while about potentially purchasing one of their first 4x100 sets, they should be available soon. However, they are in the same $2K range as the Work VS-XX but if your choices are limited it worth a shot.

Nuts to it I have a complete Skyline suspension set up here, rear axle, struts driveshafts, all the front suspension to, stop messing about with all that Nazi garbage and throw the R32 stuff under there- you KNOW it makes sense!!

Hark- I just heard Don fall off his chair laughing…

See practical solutions to complex engineering problems- that’s my trademark- LOL

Seth or Bloom??

I really don’t see Bloom spending that much on wheels though

i dont know if this was covered in the 479 posts before mie, but. if its not too bold to ask, how much would you sell this for when complete?
