Nissan GT-R a full 5 Seconds faster than Z06, 911 Turbo at Buttonwillow

:wow

Pig or not, teenage fanboy following or not, it cannot be denied. This car is FAST around a proper track.

Fanboys, start your boners. ;D

It’s an awesome car but I’d never spend that for a Nissan. I guess I just don’t get a boner like Cossey over it. :runaway

You’re not a fan of the new age 3000gt?

yeah only these can actually handle well :tong

jk shawn dont attack my internetz or something.

oh, and i’m convinced the GTR was built by sorcerers.

I hear ya man… Not on the Cossey/boner bit but on spending $70-$80 large on a Nissan.

But then I think about the 90s sports cars that came out of Japan… RX7, Supra, 300ZX, 3000GT… They had Corvette performance (regular Vette not ZR1) and started to push the $40K envelope as time went by.

That was 15 or so years ago. Not sure what $40k should be equal to now, but I bet it’s up there.

Then again, the whole reason those cars faded out of the picture was that guys who could afford the $40k were buying minivans, SUVs, etc. Wife/SO probably wouldn’t say yes to a 2 seat $40k toy. Fifteen years later, that still holds true.

Not quite, but I’ll tell you this… But you can bet your a$$ the guys who designed this thing- well I bet the chief engineer locked everyone up in a dark room with lots of computers and a 911 Turbo stripped to the carcass. Then didn’t let them out to go home for the day until about 20 parts were reverse engineered and redesigned to be stronger, lighter, and make the car faster around a track. The engineers’ 80-90 hr work weeks went on for 6 years, and here we have the result.

Brains is one thing when you are shooting for the stars. Nissan R&D is top heavy with brains. But the Japanese have DISCIPLINE and can focus long term. They knew what they were shooting for and did what it took to get there.

Nope, sorcerers.

We’ve opened Pandora’s box, prepare for Z-Day, the end of the mayan calendar etc etc

Benny, shush or I’ll open your momma’s box. ;D

73.4mph through the slalom… Damn impressive.

I am not a fan of my 3000GT. :tong

I’d have to check the local library’s archives but I think some skewed resources said it was the best handling car about 20 years ago or so too. :lol

Good post and so true but the price is a bit off. My 96 VR-4 with sunroof/audio package was nearly $47K in 96. Also, the 3/S Spyder was like MID $6X. ::slight_smile:

you think this has only been the last 6 years. the gt-r has been beating the porsche’s 911 turbo on the track for 2 decades.

I realize that the GT-R has a long and storied history of competing with world class sports cars.

When I said six years, I meant that’s about how long they’ve been working on the current iteration.

deff. a sick car…love the fact they went with the 3.8 TT…car actually sounds kinda muscular too…me like, but why they made it a 3800lb pig, is beyond me.

new tiburon called the (genesis) is also comming out with a 300hp 3.8…

whats this thing supposed to run in the 1/4 mile??? The new LS3 C6 ran a 11.7 @ 119 bone stock.

read… the… article…

it’s right on the page in the article about the GTR… go figure :haha
“the quarter mile in 11.8”

I clicked the link and watched the video…didnt even read anything…

3.8 = 290
4.6 = at least 375

Wow forgot they were that expensive. The Spyder was pimp, but mid-$60!? Ouch. That’s almost NSX territory (another important 90s car left out of the discussion due to price).

11.8@124mph, 0-60 in 3.3 seconds

nearly $20K for just the convertible option. I don’t get it.

they made that before retractable hard tops really broke way.
