I want this.

This is a new car I actually like. I didn’t read everything, but anything on a power plant?

No one cares about the free flow, more pics of modded Nismo versions plz.

Apparently Nissan does not see the FR-S/BRZ as a worthy competitor:

I love this thing .

It being just a concept is what makes it tough to look at in some instances, some of their designs are so far out there and ugly.
I can’t decide, in some pics I like it, in some I don’t.

They’re not doing themselves any favors promoting it with that cream colored one.

I’m curious how screwed up it will get to meet US crash test standards

Confirmed, but not which one:

Nissan has confirmed its popular IDx concept will go into production, with the rear-drive coupe slated for a likely 2016 release.

Nissan announced the development at the Detroit motor show on Tuesday, confirming that one of the two IDx models – either the lifestyle-based Freeflow model or the high-performance Nismo version – would make it to production.

Touted as Nissan’s answer to the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ the IDx concept is a rear-wheel-drive coupe measuring 4.1 metres long and 1.3 metres high (only 100mm shorter than the 86).

Nissan executive vice president Andy Palmer told media there was no confirmation of which of the two concept models would hit production.

“Don’t say that we won’t do both, but we will definitely do one of them,” he said.

He went on to hint that the IDx might have a manual transmission, or at the very least, paddle shifters.

Palmer said the styling of the production model would closely follow that of the concept cars.

I will buy that Nismo one today.

“MIGHT have a manual transmission”?

They’re bound to fuck it up.

fucking shoe box
why cant they just make a light weight 2 door coupe spots car?

DETROIT – Nissan’s top global product strategist is bullish about the possibility of building the IDx concept car that recalls the long gone Datsun 510.

But Nissan’s U.S. team isn’t so sure.

Andy Palmer, Nissan Motor Corp. executive vice president responsible for global product planning and strategy, gives every indication that production plans are in the works for the compact rear-wheel-drive sedan. Palmer says a factory strategy exists for the project, involving plastic body panels on a lightweight frame.

Speaking to reporters here last week, Palmer said the resulting car will fit into Nissan’s lineup as an entry-level sports car, priced below the current 370Z, in a bid to woo young buyers.

But Jose Munoz, chairman of Nissan’s North America region, doesn’t see the Datsun-inspired IDx causing a showroom sensation.

“I like it. I like the sporty attitude,” Munoz agrees. "But I don’t see it so much as a model that would be a true revolution of our portfolio.

“It’s a car that maybe one day will see the light. But for the time being, we need to grow the business we have. I want to keep selling my Versa, my Sentra, my Altima, my future Murano, my future Maxima, my future Titan and my future Nismo models.”

Detroit saw two IDx concept models – the IDx Freeflow and the motorsports-flavored IDx Nismo. Both caused considerable excitement when unveiled in November at the Toyota auto show.

Fred Diaz, Nissan Division senior vice president for U.S. sales, marketing, parts and service, says he is not getting any questions about the proposed 510 throwback from Nissan’s retailers.

“I’ve gotten very little, if any, comment about it,” Diaz says. “I think we still have way too much research and things churning to determine whether or not that will actually be good for the U.S. market.”

Pierre Loing, the automaker’s vice president for North American product planning, acknowledges that the consumer feedback Nissan received from the car’s Tokyo debut was “inconclusive.”

Loing says Nissan now intends to survey consumers at the Detroit auto show to see what they think of the IDx.

how about an online on their web? why cant they just ask us?

It’s supposed to be inconclusive! The only time you have consumers conclusively voting for a product without many voting against it, is when you release a boring, slightly evolutionary product…

Anything people lust after will be controversial, why haven’t they figured this out???

Still want one.

Dead :frowning:

We originally reported that the production version of Nissan’s IDx concepts was in question due to the potential costs of producing a rear-drive platform for a low-volume model. Now, Nissan’s senior vice president and chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura has confirmed that hurdle has shelved the project.

At least we’ll get to see it in the next F&F movie.
