As of 2002, Nissan stopped producing the S platform with the S15-series Nissan Silvia being the final variant.
In early September of 2007, it has been confirmed by a few unnamed Japanese magazines that Nissan is planning a new 4 cylinder, Rear Wheel Drive, Turbo sports coupe. Evidence of this confirmed report has been popping up all over the web with photos of what appears to be a test muel FM chassis that has been heavily chopped down and welded back together. The test muel FM chassis has been shortend quite a bit from a normal 350z and resembles what appears to be a much smaller hatchback hybrid (this can be seen in the images on the doors, roofline and front bumper + bonnet).
It is speculated that with the GTR being re-released into the market all over the world, with the absence of the Silvia for so long, and the run away success of Nissans FM chassis (the 350z and G35/G37 and upcoming GTR) that the market place is ready once again for an affordable, turbo, rear drive sports car.
The new itteration of the Silvia is rumored to be priced in a very affordable range of 21,000 to 23,000 USD and will be available as soon as 2010.
Nissan has neither confirmed nor denied any of the above claims, however, in 2003 and 2004, during a few key Nissan press conferences, Carlos Gohsn was asked about the Silvia in Japan, Australia and even the US. His reponse to the “Silvia” question was simply “It is a good time to be a Nissan fan. Keep your eyes and ears open around the time the new GTR is being released as you may find a surprise.”
With all evidence pointing tword the above stated, its safe to say that an S16 is right around the corner.
Many rumors are floating around right now on the web and in many car magazines that Nissan is going to be either bringing a concept Silvia with them to this years (2007) Tokyo Motor Show in Japan on Oct 24th to unveil along with the GTR, or to be making an announcement that the Silvia is currently being reworked and reborn again.
I heard about this (along with the new version of the ae86).
Hopefully it looks like the picture that was floating around the net for a while (actually its mad old):
^^^^^This shit is wicked hot though, imo
:partyman: :partyman: :partyman:
Yah, I said it was mad old (check my post). All I’m saying is that it would be cool if the car coming out (S16 or not) looks something like that picture.
It would be good to see a nissan that would go against the new ae86. Just my opinion.
Thats 2 years old also, it looks like a 2 door versa…That would be good competition for all the FWD rockets like MazdaSpeed 3 and cobalts.
Azeal kinda looks like a 2 Door Sentra, which might be a good choice consider most of they’re competition in the states and Honda has one. The Sport Concept Couple looks like the 2 door Versa. But will we ever get these? Nope, Nissan Designers are still pushing SUVs as the next fad.

Sport Concept Coupe:
Oh and the Mazdaspeed 3 isn’t FWD… (But who really cares…)
yeah… Actually, I thought they both were AWD. I never really liked the Mazdaspeed 3 but thats because its the same chassis as the Focus and I just have irrational hatred of those.
Explain, I’ve never heard this. (Not being a dick, just genuinelly curious)
Also the s15 was rwd, the grand prix hasn’t been rwd since the late eighties.
I always figured that the Pontiac Grand Prix was the USDM version of the Nissan Silvia S15. I am still confused as to why people like these ugly cars, do girls give you hugs and kisses when they see you in a Grand Prix ? or with a S15 front end ?
I figured that is what he was basing his statement on.
I guess s13 coupes / silvias are integras
cosign on the s15>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>grand prix
omg …Nissan is just a bunch of copycats …why do you guys have interest in this “chinese bootleg” car company if all they do is copy other cars. I thought enthusiasts were individuals who admired having something unique and different than the other guy. Now apparently the “other guy” is an Acura Integra owner
