i have no idea what made me think it was a good idea to get this project truck. i guess it was the thought of 4wd for $200. so heres the background of the truck. i bought it off a guy i work with, the alternator went out so he replaced it with a new one. ever since he did that, it doesnt run now. i cant figure it out, but im willing to put a little money into this truck before i say efff it and scrap it. its an 85 2.5 4 speed 4wd, and before he swapped out the alternator, everything worked great. has about 140K on it, leaks a little oil, but whatever. if i can get it to run, she could use 2 doors, maybe a fender if i feel like it. the bed its absolutely trashed, there is no saving it so if i can get it to run its gettin a wood flat bed. i really havent messed with it too too much yet, hopefully it wont take much to get her to run and then i’ll have my little beater 4x4. only thing i did was some basic troubleshooting that really got me nowhere, and i had to replace the lock cylinder for the igniton. the previous owner lost the keys, and well…made it so you can start it with a screwdriver haha. well, dont make tooo much fun, heres some pics

So does it crank but not start or does it not crank at all when you turn the key?
well funny thing about that. previous owner thought the fuel pump was done for. meanwhile it was out of gas, so i threw a couple gallons in it and it fired right up. however, as soon as i touched the gas pedal, whole truck started shakin and quit running. it did that a few times, and has been able to restart since. another guy i work with said it was throwing spark by the dist so i decided to replace the cap and rotor. well, my buddy went to pull the cap off and yanked out the whole distributor, and didnt pay attention to how it came out. so now we’re fighting with that issue as well, its out of time a good bit. once i have time to put it back in time, i’ll be able to tinker more with it

How long has it been sitting? Might what to rebuild the throttle body it at least take it apart and clean it
