No More Rotor

The automaker announced last year that it would be discontinuing the engine, citing high costs, low sales and environmental concerns

Death to rotors… FOX - unfair and kinda balanced?

And somewhere, one person is upset.

So is this Mazda’s way of admitting LSx swaps > rotary?

You know we haven’t had a NYSpeed member lately going “OMG IM GOING TO BUILD A 800RWHP ROTOR SETUP YOU WILL SEE”

Then they smoke 2-3 motors and move on.

Over the years of UBRF/NYSpeed we had a few

Lol, apex seals.

I suppose this is the part where i should have saved my 30k mile housings and irons

Fuck.

Where is addictedtoboots?

I don’t know but I think addictedtoboost may have something to say about this.

A sad day…love it or hate, it was innovative, interesting, and unique…always had a fondness for the rotary…

Won’t be missed, however I’ll miss the jokes / hate :frowning:

I remember way back on the Mischief Invasion video when they did a part on a built rotary car. They were going to take it on a Rally but it got such terrible MPG’s and was so unreliable they couldn’t!

Anyone else remember that?

There’s a lot of people out there (and on this website) that really love shitty technology and shitty cars. I’m sure there are at least three people that are upset…

Hi, I’m thinking of getting rid of the oil injection setup and pre mixing in the two stroke oil. Any thoughts? What ratio should I use? Thanks for the input!

Agreed, definitely sad to see this. I have yet to own one, but some day I’ll have an RX-7 and it will definitely be rotary. It just wouldn’t be one without it. People can hate on it all they want, but it was just another factor that added to the uniqueness of the RX-7, especially FD’s.

Kinda feel the same way, never ever me, but cool they were still around.

I have a 5.3L rx7 sitting next to a 13b rx7, I’m DDing the 5.3 because it gets better gas mileage. LOL

The rotary is kinda neat, but that’s about it.

I very much enjoyed my '91 RX7…
