he gave up a TD to randy moss!!!.. whether he fell or not moss probably makes the catch. when u are covering a guy like that psychologically you are beat and ur probably tryin to do something extra to make up for the fact you are no-name DB covering RANDY MOSS in the SUPERBOWL. your body screws up while ur mind is stuck on that… he was infact played the fade route to moss and fell when he got beat to the inside, he played the percentages. I’ve seen a lot worse in big moments of games. for example…how do you bite on an inside route to plaxico? if anything i would play the fade 100% sellout at that part of the field to plax and make him go across the middle to beat me…across the middle where i most likely have saftey help…no instead i bite so hard on an inside move from a guy who doesnt go across the middle and get beat by a second rate fade pass. a comeplete failure by the ellis hobbes and the coaches for not telling him that or double covering plax in that situation. why was plax not double covered? i’lll take my chances with toomer, david tyree who made one big catch but on the season didnt ahve many catches at all or even steve smith the rookie… No they got beat on a simple fade to the tallest WR and weren;t even looking for it.
i’m happy NY won but blaming a db for the pats scoring is gay… i’m sure he blew covereage on every other play on that drive too? dont forget they did that often against our beloved steelers along with just about every other team this year…
they doubled Moss pretty much all game until Brady started going to Welker because his guy was playing 10 yards off the line and still couldnt keep up… then on that one play that Moss scored they doubled Welker (which i thought was very stupid), id blame the coachs more for pulling the second man off Moss, if Welker scores he scores, you dont man-to-man Moss in that play… and ill agree mistakes like that did happen all season long, but i hate to say it but something like that is inexcusable in the big game imo, but your right… you cant fully put the blame on him.
ellis hobbs… he’s the one that DID give up the winning td not the giants guy. while true its the scoring plays that get the attention i’m sure during that NE drive there were bigger mistake made by other giants defenders puttin NE in that situation.
