pretty sure cliffs are:
works on friends cars, friend brought GTI, some one stole old key, came back to steal GTI with old key but couldn’t because of the crank position sensor not working hence the reason his friend brought the car to him in the first place.

there for the lazy.
So funny story, I Live in north buffalo have a 2 car garage and work on VW/Audi’s for friends and family. I’ve never had an issue, often having cars dropped off and picked up, all my clients are friends I dont have strangers coming to my house, I have a real job that pays my bills, just do this for extra cash.
So Monday a friends car died on the GI bridge, he called me, had the car towed Via “martys” to my house i was working (2nd shift) got home late didnt look at the car the next morning it was starting to rain so i went out to make sure all the windows where closed on the cars here, and noticed the new car (VW GTI) windows where down just a little, so hoped in and looked for the key to close the windows.
Couldn’t find the key, called the owner said he left the key with towing company, called towing company they said they left key in ignition. after telling them its not here they said they would buy a new key. (awesome on there part) fast forward, new key came in friday, went and got it, pushed the car back to the garage and i for the first time could pull my car past it, so I parked next to it.
Woke this morning to someone BANGING on my door, got up my neighbor said “my” (the GTI) was in the street, I look out and sure enough the GTI is in the street driver door open, the “old” key in the ignition. we pushed it back up.
I would have loved to see the look on the guys face when he realized the crank position sensor is non-functional… lol
But happened per the neighbors between 6am and 8am
I think im getting a dog and a camera
