wheels up!..or hydraulics :frowning:

This may be the most popular sport of Saudi youth, an obsessive, semilegal competition that dominates weekend nights here. It ranges from garden variety drag racing to “drifting,” an extremely dangerous practice in which drivers deliberately spin out and skid sideways at high speeds, sometimes killing themselves and spectators.

Nice semi-legal.

Drifting, which tends to attract poorer, more marginal men, has also been an unlikely nexus between homosexuality, crime and jihadism since it emerged 30 years ago.

I lol’d. This article is great.

Just after 1:30, a group of police cars show up, lights flashing, sending the racers scattering. The officers do not arrest anyone. They just step out of their cars and begin talking to the young men in a paternal manner, urging them to go home.

See they really are slightly behind the times over there, they are finally catching up with this part of our car loving culture…guess the west really does corrupt…we all hear the stories about how the police used to just give warning and all that…once they figure out what a money maker things like tint tickets and loud exhaust are they’ll be all set…then again their police are probably more worried about people blowing themselves up in a market place.

Gotta watch the video in the lower corner, the have crown vic police cars over there! Also strange not to see combat footage with the type of buildings they show.

Pretty soon they will be like California and go from “Police step out of their cars and beging talking to the young men” to “Cars impounded and ripped apart”
