I ran 4.10 gears in the stock housing for three years. I couldnt even beging to think how many races those gears had on them. They had about 50 track passes on them with 27in Hoosier QTPs i was consistantley in the 1.6s for two seasons and went into the 10s on this setup. I now have 4.10s in a 9in and im brobably just bitching cause i spent alot of money on my 9in and i sold my 10bolt to a guy i know who beats the snot out of it and its still perfectley quiet. My 9in on the otherhand was quiet untill the first track pass now she has a slight noise but not bad.

I’ve heard about people breaking them from rolls with street tires making close to stock power blah blah blah… Were those guys running no fluid in it or something? :lol: I’ve beaten the shit out of two ten bolts already (One with nittos, now I’m on 315 BFG DR’s) and the thing doesn’t show any signs of wanting to break. great time though congrats :tup:
People trying to do 4-5k clutch dump on drag radials/street tires and getting wheel hop…is how most people kill them.
One of the guys on WNYFbody was at the track last week and was pulling the front tire an inch or so on stock 10bolt that he has raced on for 2 seasons.
Some 10-bolts live, some don’t. I’m pretty sure studderin’s is on the way out, it’s getting really noisy. It’s just extra insurance. When they break you’d better hope you aren’t going real fast.

i’m on my 3rd 10bolt with an auto and my car is slow, does have 315s and I use to do burnouts and donuts alot when I first got it.

The 10 bolt can only take so much. I was getting one tire fire after 2 seasons with the 3:73’s and 255/50R16 DR’s. Plus they have c clips and axle can fall out. The 12 bolt really gave me a piece of mind knowing that it won’t break.
