NYSpeed Weekly Poker?

what time on a tuesday would it be? i usually work til 8…think 8:30/9pm would work for people?

I would be in.

That’s about when my other games started, although it entirely depends on what’s played and if its a tournament, how many other tables there are.

A table of 8 or 9 is no problem, 20 players won’t end till 1ish pending on the play and blind structure, etc.

i would like to get into that series if you have openings

Maybe we can delete the beginning of this thread ( or save it for viewing of my acute written slaying of rage87 ), make a poll with days and times, and progress positively?

poll is added

openings? it’s an open tourny at a firehall…anybody that has $40 they have room for.

i work til 8 every day…so it would have to be at 8:30 or later if i were attending…

and both Tuesday and Wednesday work for me.

More info?

ya me and my friend use to run one at UB but it got too big for the location so we had to stop letting people in.

i would like more info tho. i would definitly stop in and play each month.

it’s 10 tournaments. Starts in september or october i think…have to find the schedule.

$40 or $45 buy in. $2 optional buy in for target player…basically they pick a table number and seat number, and if you knock out that player you win the money from the target player pool. if you ARE the target player and win the tourny, you get to keep that money on top of the 1st place money.

on average around 100 people or so…but it’s been growing every year, i’d expect 120 on average this year…meaning top 12 or so will be paid.

it’s typically once a month on a saturday evening around 7…i’ve final tabled a number of times and it takes til around 1AM or so to win the whole thing (i came in 2nd once). 1st is usually close to a grand…2nd 500 to 600…and so on.

some months they have 2 tournys…1st and last saturday of the month. 10 total tournys over 8 months though…then the 11th is the tournament of champions…and for those that don’t qualify, they also hold a normal 11th tourny with the normal $40 buy in…just less players since the top 30 or so in points are in the tourny of champions.

TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS:

Like i said earlier…this is a league, and in any league you accumulate points.

each tournament, 50th place gets 10 points…49th gets 20 points…and so on…so 2nd place gets 490 points…and 1st gets 500, but it doesnt matter because if you win any given tourny, 1st place finishers automatically get entry to the tournament of champions, which has a prize pool that’s been gathered by taking a bit out of every buy in for every tournament leading up to it.

Last year i had a rough season, with only 2 final table appearances…8th one month then 2nd the next month…then a bunch of shitty showings. I was up there in points for a while…and needed to do decent the very last month since i was in the very last spot to make it into the T of C…but that was also the night of the Aces and Blades benefit for the Sabres that i and a date already had tickets for…so i missed the tourny, and missed my chance at getting the points i needed to make it into the T of C.

i’ll be sure to post up more info when i get the schedule and will continue to post up monthly most likely when each tourny will be.

In to play. Tuesdays works well for me.

Seriously who is going to host it, I’m down for a tuesday or monday tourney.

if there’s more than 1 table it’s probably a good idea to have a chip set per table…

i have a good one i can bring.

and advice…don’t use all 4 chip colors when handing out chips at once…just use 3 of the 4…you’ll want the 4th color to use to color up to a higher increment when the blinds start getting ridiculous

tuesdays also are good for me too

Ok, so who to host? Where is everyone generally located? I’m in the middle, in Willy.

i’m in cheektowaga but i may come straight from work in willy/amherst on sheridan at transit…but we all know everything in WNY is 15 minutes away…so i have no preference on location.

unfortunately i can’t host though…

edit:

and what are we thinking for a buy in?

and re-buys for lets say half the original starting stack?

re buys will make your game a very long one. If you have 15 players you are gonna go till 1 am allowing buy ins will make it a game that i would have to play on the weekends

What about rebuys up till the second blind increase? Any more than that and I too would probably end up playing too late on a “school night.”

Gotta figure out how many people are playing, and should have a buy in that’s enough for people to care if they lose, but not so much as to limit the college players.

Why are we talking about rebuys when no one has even set up a game?
