holy shit

i was fishing in the sound, (bay) with my ugly stick rod and 50lb spiderwire on the bottom… I didnt think i would catch something like that on the bottom but i was using shrimp. ( I’ve heard Bloodworm works well in the surf, never tried it, i’ve always had good luck with squid )
sure as hell looks like a striper to me… doesnt look red lol
whatever it is it put up a good fight

I went out on the surf with the ocean rod i had 1 morning 5-7am… got nothing but 1 bite and lost my rig and snapped the 100lb line :frowning:
all of a sudden the drag started spining like crazy and i tightened it up, It jerked again so i tried to hook it and whatever it was snapped the line…

Other Common Names:

Red Drum, Redfish, Spot-tail Bass, Red Bass, Red Dorse, School Drum, Puppy Drum

hmmm i guess it is a redfish… I searched “Spot tail bass” and found it

its a redfish, but anyhow that fish that broke 100lb test must have been something insane, that would bug the hell out of me for weeks wanting to know what kind of fish it was. it could have been a big redfish or striper, both can reach 50 pound plus but then again in the ocean it could have been any damn thing

probably a peice of a broken pier

no i doubt it, not if your drag was spinning like crazy. i cant wait to get down there and fish. im probably gonna go into one of the ocean channels and use my bass rods and tackle

there was also some rip tide when i was fishing, but you could def tell when you got caught in a rip tide or not with the rig… dunno what it was…
