Zong (azndc5r)and I were talking about turbos and superchargers in class this afternoon and i had a question that we werent sure about…
if you get an OEM product…say like a supercharger and buy it cheaper elsewhere rather than buying straightly from the dealer…would they still let you keep your warantee if anything happens to your car or…
…would they even install if for you and let you still keep the warantee…
i dont have the money at the moment for a supercharger but scion has come out with an OEM one for my car and i was wondering, possibly for future possibilities…
unless you luck out and have an awesome dealer, like autohaus, where you bring them certain kits (well known, well trusted) and they will install (you pay them of course) and ONLY THEY will warantee it because they are cool as hell.
btw they sell VWs. lol
Yeah, i’m pretty sure, actually, 100% sure, that if you get aftermarket parts they are not going to warantee it
In a lot of situations, you can buy like the factory supercharger and have THEM install it.
You buying it and bringing it to them might not work because they want to make money off the supercharger, and they want to make sure it’s legit.
ugh… nevermind. Doesn’t sound good.
your springs already voided some of your warantee…
they are going to want you to buy the S/C thru them directly more then likely
if they havent installed a s/c on another scion yet, or only done a few, they know its gonna take them to damn long to do the install, so they dont want to make JUST thi install money, they want to s/c sale money also to be able to pay the tech when it takes 3 times to long to install the kit
i know GM lets you install thier chargers yourself and they will even extend your warrenty. you just install the charger and then bring it to the dealer to install software in your vcm
heres a little write up on it, im sure every car maker is different, but if gm does it i would be real surprised if toy yoyo doesnt http://www.j-body.org/library/detail.php?17
Yeah the bottom line is they have to install it and you have to buy the parts from them.
I remember when i was leaning towards buying a G35 coupe, the dealer told me that if i bought a charger directly from them and had them install it then my warranty would be good. Otherwise no dice.
:gotme:
Screw warranty anyways, if nothin breaks in the first few months youre golden. lol
its not so much BS as it is them covering their asses.
if you buy a bunk sc from someone on the internet to save a couple buck, and have them install it… and it turns out that its a piece of shit; they dont want you coming after them.
they are a business, and they are there to make money. not do favors for someone who tried to save a few bucks by not buying product from them.
