OFFICIAL: 2008 ELECTION THREAD

I still want a source for this. Exagerations have been made on both sides for years so I do refuse to belive in this without some real proof.

I chalk this up for being just as credible as the story that Palin is a member of the independence party and wants Alaska to secede.

You may think you dig deeper but when it comes time for you to post your thoughts you almost never back them up.

“Barack Obama is friends with Ayers, defending him as, quote, ‘respectable’ and ‘mainstream.” – Obama campaign lawyer Robert F. Bauer has said that Sen. Obama did not make those statements, they were made by a journalist in an article that was posted with many others on Obama’s campaign website. Source here. Additionally, I found a citation of what may be that article here. As far as Ayers being a friend of Obama, that is also not true. From a Fox News Sunday interview this past April with Chris Wallace:

WALLACE: Let me ask you one other question in this regard, which some will call a distraction, some will call values.

In the last debate, you were asked about your relationship with William Ayers, the former ’60s radical, and you said that you were no more responsible for what he did back in the 1960s than for your friendship with Tom Coburn, senator from Oklahoma, pediatrician, who has made comments about possibly taking the death penalty for cases of abortion.

Do you really see a moral equivalency between what Ayers did and what Tom Coburn said?

OBAMA: No, of course not. The point I was making — and I actually called Tom Coburn afterwards, because I thought that people were suggesting that I had drawn a moral equivalent, so that’s what I was — wasn’t what I was doing.

All I was saying was — is that the fact that I know somebody, worked with them, have interactions with them, doesn’t mean that I’m endorsing what they say.

And, Chris, I’m sure you’ve got people who you serve on a board with or have dinner with who, you know, you would never expect to somehow have that seen as an endorsement of their views.

Now, you know, Mr. Ayers is a 60-plus-year-old individual who lives in my neighborhood, who did something that I deplore 40 years ago when I was 6 or 7 years old. By the time I met him, he is a professor of education at the University of Illinois.

We served on a board together that had Republicans, bankers, lawyers, focused on education. He worked for Mayor Daley, the same Mayor Daley, by the way, who, when he was a state’s attorney, prosecuted Mr. Ayers’ wife for those activities in the ’60s.

So the point is that to somehow suggest that in any way I endorse his deplorable acts 40 years ago because I serve on a board with him…
  1. “Obama’s political career was launched in Ayers’ home.” – What is true is that Obama attended a meet-the-candidate event in Ayers’ home during a run for the Illinois State Senate in the nineties.

  2. “And the two served together on a left-wing board.” – Obama did serve on a board with Ayers, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. You can follow the preceding link and find other information in the media about the project and decide for yourself if it’s “left-wing.” That also begs the question, what is “left-wing” and what is supposed to be meant by that. What the ad doesn’t say is that the board’s mission was education reform in Chicago’s schools. The Annenberg Institute, which sponsored several challenge sites around the country also has its mission raising the quality of education in urban areas. By leaving it at “left-wing” board, the viewer at home is left to think it’s some sort of commie conspiracy. I’ll also refer you back to the above answer Obama gave Matthews regarding the membership of this board.

  3. “Why would Barack Obama be friends with someone who bombed the Capitol and is proud of it? Do you know enough to elect Barack Obama?” – Well, he’s not “friends” with the guy. Asking a question and leaving it hanging out there for a reader or viewer to draw conclusions or walk away somehow influenced by the asking of the question is one of the oldest tricks in the book. And, here that’s just what it is, a trick to get viewers to have doubts about Obama. No substance here.

Now what about the funding of this ad and the American Issues Project? Where does the money trail lead? Right back to John McCain’s campaign. Texas billionaire Harold Simmons, a McCain campaign contribution bundler, personally ponied up $2.9 million to finance the Ayers ads.

THE TWO OF YOU ARE ASSHATS, STONE WENT TO YALE (and was starting QB); WHO’S OFFICIAL COLOR IS BLUE. HE WAS MAKING A SHOUT OUT/JOKE

Obamas ready to Barrack and roll

Heres where i get my sources from.Check out this speech from Palin.

Regardless, how many people watching the newscast know that? Probably 5% or so. Combine that with the fact that just before saying “go blue” he was sucking Obama off for several minutes and it looks bad. Hell, even drop the “go blue” and its still another media love fest for Obama.

Biden says Hillary might have been a better VP pick.

EDIT: Before the liberals get their panties all wound up over a Fox News link:

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/10/biden-hillary-might-have-been-better-vp-pick/

Umm and? OMG Biden’s being honest again! Hillary probably would have been a better pick for VP candidate; however I think Biden would be much easier to actually govern with

“Umm and?”, that’s all you got Joe? I mean come on, the VP pick is saying the biggest choice Obama has had to make in his political career may have been a mistake and you don’t care at all? After the dems tried to pounce all over McCain for making such a “bad choice” in Palin?

Can’t blame Obamy for skipping over Hilldog though. You’d need eyes in the back of your head as president with her as your VP.

did he say mistake? Palin ISN’T qualified to be VP, certainly not qualified to be president. Biden is. Clinton might have been a “better” choice politically

OT but not really…

Seriously WTF is with the media?
Does it not seem like when you actually know a little about what they are talking about you find they are inaccurate?

Last night Brian Williams reported on the LHC and he joked that we are still alive after they fired it up.
They only fired it in one direction, they didn’t smash any atoms!

Whenever my company has been in the local paper or w/e the facts are almost always wrong.
I guess it happens at every level.

End of rant.

Ha ya. I was watching the CERN video all day yesterday. Its just small testing to aim the beam all the way around in both directions. They arent smashing. THAT is when we will see if we die or not. Smashing photons at the speed of light is gonna be the end of us. Lol. News media will jump on any topic that gets attention. They talk about how it will kill us all and people will watch. The whole online feed from CERN was full of people asking if they should be worried becuase of what they have been hearing on the news.

I agree with Joe, if Obama picked Hillary it would have been for political reasons. He picked Biden because he wanted a VP to help him run an administration.

McCain did not pick Palin because he thought she was the best pick for his administration but because he thought it would help him win an election.

Who made the more responsible choice?

Answer: Obama

They both looked at where they were weak and picked someone to fill in those holes. Both picked someone they thought would help them move into the white house.

Obama: No experience, especially in foreign policy, picked an old beltway insider who has a ton of foreign policy experience. The guy is as far from Obama’s “Change” message as you can get so don’t give me your self righteous “best for the country” line.

McCain: Old, beltway insider who people know was a maverick but started to doubt that status with his recent courting of conservatives, doesn’t connect with younger people. He picked a young beltway outsider with a proven maverick resume. When you take off the polarized partisan glasses you see her experience is pretty damn close to Obama. At least with her the least experience is at the bottom of the ticket, not the top, hence why Obama has been very quite about attacking her experience.

When Obama said he had been to 57 states was he talking about the 57 states of Islam?
Last I checked the USA only had 50 states.
I was just wondering.;)

This interview gets interesting at 1:20 in.

OMG!!!11111!!! He’s one of them towel head terrorists! He made a one word slip up in a live interview, that proves it, fucker was behind 9/11. He was the 21st hijacker but couldn’t get out of community organizing that day.

But wait, if he’s Muslim, why has he been going to this guy’s church for 20 something years?

I’m a whole lot more concerned that he called that guy his spiritual adviser than if he really was a Muslim.

^Why was he a Muslim until he started at that church?:gotme:

HE DIDN’T START THE CHURCH, AND HE’S NEVER BEEN A MUSLIM

I hate you…
