Now I’m all for secure boarders and trying to curb illegal immigrants but I am not for making children into more or less orphans.
My opinion would be to make these parents go through the citizenship process and start taxing them like everyone else.

Understood but the story is about a child that was raised here in the states, going to school and living as an American. Imagine being 14 years old and in eighth or ninth grade and having your mother deported to Mexico or under your train of thought you are being told you have to leave as well. The child should not suffer because of the “mistake” of the parent. Instead of deportation, if they are caught and have setup a life and raised a child here in the states they should be forced to go through the citizenship process.
I will compromise with you however that newborns or infants should not guarentee citizenship. But if the child has started gradeschool then the parents should be forced through the system, not out of it.
