rchiplock, YES… Mahars! I’m there every saturday. Best place around for beer.
Druid fluid is a barley wine, medium strength beer with a high alcohol percentage. I’m actually a big fan of them. Had Blithering Idiot (another barley wine) on tap at Mahars and it was delicious.
are you crazy! Hobgoblin is good stuff. You make it seem like it’s some disgusting, out of the ordinary beer. It’s always on tap at Malt River Brewery in Latham if anyone wants to give it a rip.
I’ve had it and it’s good. A little rough, but you should almost expect that with that high of an alcohol percentage.
go to westmere beverage on western ave(rt 20) in Guilderland, about 1/4 west of crossgates mall. HUGE selection. Found this pic, there are a few isles…
I just picked up a couple bottles of Sam Adams Chocolate Bock that I cant wait to try. I have to many to list but a couple greats at the top of my list are Brown’s Whiskey Porter, JVG’s Chocolate Cream Stout, Farmer Jon’s Oatmeal Stout, Rogue Double Dead Guy Ale, Sam Adams Triple Bock, Westmalle Tripel. As far as cheap shit I wont have less then a Blue Moon or Sam Adams id rather have water for free.
you actually like the triple bock?!? I think Sam adams triple bock is disgusting. Had it on saturday at Mahars. The bartender actually asked me “are you sure?” and then after I confirmed my order he said “enjoy your teriyaki sauce.” Absolutely hilarious. I Was with 4 other beer lovers and none of them wanted to even try it after smelling it. Of course I made them all try and it they all HATED it. I finished it, but it was absolutely gross. More of a wine than a beer and I hate wine, so there you go.
Its not as good as the Utopias but I guess drinking that had me prepared for the triple bock. Its def. a little rough at first it throws a lot at you in on sip.
I had it 5 years ago, and up until this weekend, it was the only beer in my life that I couldn’t finish. I had to redeem myself. I’ll never do it again.
