Hi,
Carlisle Performance & Style is not the same show that was here in 2003. P&S is a new show, with a new format. Just like weather patterns, automotive trends come from the west and head to the east…what we are see and what SEMA is reporting is the decline in the sport compact industry. As the “kids” grow up, graduate college, get real jobs and have more money they are buying better cars like the 300C, Charger, IS300, etc. So what we are doing is having a show that will give those vehicles a home. Yes, there will be a large portion of sport compact vehicles at the show, we know that. But in the next couple years when this decline heads east we will be ahead of the curve with an established show.
Another thing that validates what we are doing is what Vision Entertainment did December 3 in LA. Vision is the producer of the HIN series, they held a show called VIP Auto Fashions. This was the west coast version of what we are doing. HIN see’s the need to develop a new line of shows because their compact shows are falling off.
We did meet with the local law & government about the show and they are welcoming the show back to the city because of the money a show brings to the town. We did address that violations will ruin a show, and we cannot say they will ease up, but they have agreed that there could be a negative effect on the show and they don’t want that. They want what we want, a good show with no problems inside or outside the fairgrounds.
I hope this helps you know a bit more about the show.
Take care and see you in May,
Rich Dallas

Hi Rich,
First, I'd like to start out and tell you that I have attended every Custom Compact Show that has ever been held at the fairgrounds and a few of the other shows including my other favorite show, the All Truck Nationals. My car has been on the showfield numerous times. However, since the import show was banned I did not attend the shows at Harrisburg or State College. Can you tell me how this show is really any different than the Custom Compact show?? It sounds like to me that the "bigshots" that run things at Carlisle finally came to their senses and realized how much money the city was losing from the import crowd but they decided to "disguise" things by changing the name of the show and listing a few different things like SUV's and luxury cars to make the show sound more "adult".
To me that is pretty funny because luxury cars, SUV's, lowriders and bikes were already starting to attend the compact show........nothing new there. By the way, I'm not one of those IDIOTS that caused all the problems in town at the import show. A large group of my friends from all different states and I would meet up and attend every year as a tradition.
All I can say is if this is basically the same show PLEASE PLEASE tell me that there has been a meeting or something with the local and state cops to get their asses straight. I can see if someone is doing something to deserve a ticket but the tickets for stupid shit like window tint, aftermarket taillights & headlights, neon and the countless other modifications is RIDICULOUS!!! IT IS A CUSTOM CAR SHOW NO MATTER WHAT SHOW IS BEING HELD THAT WEEKEND. THATS WHY PEOPLE ENTER AND ATTEND THESE SHOWS!! It's a shame how much money everyone spends over a 3-day time period in Carlisle, yet, the cops are total jackasses and fine and harass A LOT of people who were invited to attend these shows. Its an import car show......what do they expect to be on these cars?!?! Just like the truck show.....do they think they're not going to have loud stereo systems, scraping the ground or have hydraulics OR be 20 feet in the air?!?! How many people have been pulled over at one of the muscle car or corvette shows from burning tire?? Yeah, like that doesn't happen!! I know that you know exactly what I'm talking about and you can't tell me that there is a show that exists at Carlisle that the cops couldn't find someone to harass about aftermarket parts or some the little "things" that happens when someone is showing off their vehicle.
If you have any opinions to send my way please do. Thanks for your time............
