Hey guys i need to know how to run a oil catch can (stock catch can does not fit anymore because of top mount) but anyways, I need pics of different setups ,and do you really need run it back in the motor , can i just catch it in a container then empty it out after, would it fill up to fast…??? don’t know thats why i am asking u guys Its a sr20det s14 One more thing anyone selling a aftermarket oil catch can … cheers
is it an s13 or s14 sr engine?
this is for s14, the other side of the catch would go back to the intake pipe(oem part has a spot for that). you said it was a top mount setup so you will need to have a nipple welded onto your intake pipe. or like you said just empty the can when it is full. problem with that is, you will have oil fumes venting to the engine bay when they should be plumbed back to the intake and burned.
if its an s13 engine, run the back side of the t directlty to the block with some oil-resistant (silicone or pvc) hose.
it is a s 13 sr20det red top in the s14
That picture is a blacktop S14 SR motor, evident from the VCT bulge in the front portion of the motor.
I actually have an NGR oil catch can as well waiting to be installed, just have to figure out the best place to mount it in my engine bay lol!
so whats the best setup for an aftermarket catch can? i’ve been searching for a while and so far everyone i seen is different.
right now on my sr, the Tee coming off the valve cover has the hose from the rubber intake pipe connected to the left side, and nothing on the right of the Tee.
should i simply run one hose from the catch can to the Tee
then run another hose from the 2nd catch can port to the block where the stock catch can hose was routed and call it a day?
I got some of my ideas from watching Drift Tengoku off youtube when they showcase their cars, lots of the catch cans I see are placed towards the front right of the engine bay cuz of the obvious room and mounting points. Still have yet to install my catch can lol.
im not sure where im gonna mount it yet, im more interested in the plumbing right now. the way i stated is basically the same as the stock setup, im wondering if there is a ‘better’ setup
