okay… first off… one of my keys to the bmw screwed up, and i had to order a new one. So at 4pm I went into the dealership, explained my problem and they had to get a new key made at the factory in Germany… less then 24hrs later i got a new key made (at no cost) and it was back here in the U.S. and ready to go. OMG #1 (okay, not such a big deal)
OMG#2
I got the oportunity to ride in the brand new ///M5 tonight and to skip all the stuff you’ll hear over and over again about accel.,…power…braking… etc. DID ANYBODY KNOW IT HAS ACTIVE SEATING? I found this out tonight. If you take a hard turn… the side bolster in the seat actually reacts INSTANTLY (on one side) and keeps you centered infront of the wheel… that was amazing. The seats actually adjust and move to the driving conditions.
I didn’t expect it which made it even more amazing. that’s all.
i don’t know, it may be ‘old’ technology, but this is the first time i ever experienced it or new it existed. They are some pretty beefy/sporty seats though, almost doesn’t look right in a family sedan.
ehem… it’s a 320i. that would be pretty sweet. It would be nice one of these days to actually have my car hug me back.
I don’t much care for BMW’s active steer. It ruins any feeling the steering once had, and creates a lack of linearity that an “ultimate driving machine” shouldn’t have.
I actually got to drive this very M5 and it was absolutly incredible. The active seating was a little intense but once you got used to it, it was really welcome. The power was right there when you pounded the gas and the handling was superb for a 4000 lb. car. I also found it pretty exhilerating to shift into 7th gear. Wow, what a ride!
