One of those days at work

Just have to vent.

So a couple months ago I wrote a new routine to do “sounds like” searches on proper names so when a name is spelled wrong a search still works. So anyway…

I don’t write the installers, we have a guy who does that. I give him 3 dll’s, tell him which one needs to be registered and which are just dependancies. He supposedly tested the install on some bare bones PC, just the OS + our software, and said it worked. It’s now out at several client sites. Yesterday I get a call about a subscript out of range error. I try troubleshooting it over the phone with our support person and finally give up. Pack up the laptop, bunch of software, and head over there this morning. I’m there 5 minutes and realize the installer is only copying 2 of the 3 dll’s. I dump the missing one off my thumb drive, run the program again, BAM, working like a charm. How difficult is this!? I could have done it with a stupid batch file and made it work better.

GRRRRrrr.
