One of you guys wanna tell me...

How much a new crossmember costs? labour to install it?

Yeah, went into ditch the other day and hit one of those concrete waterway bridge, bent my crossmember lol.

oh geez … i hope you didn’t damage anything else under the car cuz the crossmember is a pretty thick piece of metal :S you must have hit that waterway bridge thing pretty hard :S

either way, you could just get pricing for that part from nissan direct since install should take no more than 5 min max, most of the cost will be the part itself. if it’s too expensive, try calling a wrecker to see if they have any wrecked z’s that have intact crossmembers (which is conceivable).

Dam david, you must have hit that pretty hard…

I would try a wrecker first. Good luck!

What is a crossmember? Is that the thick piece of aluminium cross bar that sit behind the front bumper? If so, I got one David.

That’s not the Crossmember, that’s the Re-bar

The Crossmember is a thick metal peice that runs below the engine and contains the mounts for the suspension on either side, plus the mounts for the engine.

Yeah I hit that thing pretty hard, was probably going around 50-60km/h, when I hit it. The first thing I thought of was “oh **** my oil pan” lol. Took it to a buddy’s shop and checked underneath, crossmember’s bent back, we tried using sledgehammer to bang it back, didn’t budge a bit!

Other pieces that are damaged is the plastic underpanel for aerodynamics, but i fixed it with some zip-ties. I’m honestly shocked that my bumper has no damage at all despise the 1" drop.

I’m thinking about asking nissan for a quote lol, I’ll say I hit a raised manhole or something.

Getting a crossmember would be expensive. But… I’m more worried about the labour

Richard, the morning that we bumped into each other, the car was still damaged, bet you couldn’t notice a thing haha

yup… thanks!

Oh yeah, my steering wheel’s now inclined to the right by 20ish degrees. If I chose not to fix the crossmember, would a simple alignment fix it? the lower control arm isn’t touching the crossmember and rest of suspension pieces seems to be fine. The only thing is that one side of the crossmember is bent, where the lower control arm connects to. From what I can see, I notice no difference in handling and can still drive fine aside from the steering wheel.

you should take it to a reputable bodyshop and have them check it with an electronic measuring system, the chassis might be all out of wack… do the fenders and hood and doors line up with even gaps?

well duh … it’s not like i could have stared underneath your car  i was too busy flailing my arms to get your attention :stuck_out_tongue:

Everything lines up fine, like mentioned, I already had it up on the hoist at a buddy’s shop. Frame seems perfectly fine not to even a scratch. The only thing damaged is the crossmember and the underpanels… we actually removed the underpanels to see more of the area for other damages, none to tell so far. But yeah, might be a good idea to check it out for safety… I wonder how much it costs…?

Flailing your arms? hahaha didn’t you say somewhere that it was too cold to stick even a finger out? more like you were busy giving me the “WTF DONT CUT ME” signal to catch my attention hahahah

flailing my arms INSIDE the car  and cursing your name, but i forgot to mention that earlier  either way that was a funny morning … lucky for you there was too much traffic or else my VTAK would have OOOOWNNNNED you :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Depending on the shop and what kind of measuring system they use, they might check it for free, especially if u give them the impression you are going to have the car fixed there.

Great, I’ll check it out when I got time this weekend

I was around highway 7/commerce today from 12-2, and in that timespan, I saw 2 black 350z’s, one with rims, other looks stock from the back. The rim’d one went into the apartments there. Also saw a silver one @the coin-op @7/valleymead, with a ricey-jetta, and a nice Yellow S4.

Cool afternoon.
