It just keeps me busy in the winter time. Just like with a car, I like being able to see something start off as nothing and turn into something respectable. Alot of the old guys I have met at the local train store have put 100K+ into their layouts.

Holy fuck WHitey, 12x32 is “club” level ish. I’d LOVE to see some pics of that. I come from a long line of railroad men and their kids that thrive on model railroading. I’m a narrow gauge buff myself.
My other hobbies? Hobby wouldn’t do it justice. Fly fishing for trout. Fly tying. Absofuckinlutely obsesses with it, it’s displacing my motivation for blown 4 bangers…
Ever seen them upclose? I mean the real deal, not a scale model? Stood there while one rolls up to you and then goes by? A steam locomotive climbing a hill on a cold day? Pure brute strength, massive weight and size, dripping testosterone. Helps explain the fascination. That and the fact that Pa used to be the most bad assed state in the Union thanks to iron, steel and the railroads they built

one thing i found to realize is ppl that are huge into model railroading, havent really experience the real thing first hand. yes i like MRR just dont have the extra cash to do what i want. i would like to get all HO scale B.O.,C.O.,Cheesie,CSX and CSXT models of engines, cars and etc to do up a setup like that. something my old man would enjoy, since thats the company he retired from
No pics on the hard drive. It’s just hard to imagine or believe until you’re standing there. Especially a steam locomotive. You get nervous, the hair on the back of your neck stands up, you KNOW this thing is dangerous, bad, strong. It’s worth checking out, if even just once.
