Anyone familiar with painless harnesses?
Looking at this one “Painless 10101 12 Circuit Universal Streetrod Harness with GM Keyed Column”
Just seeing if there are any other brands out there I should be looking at

Check out Ron Francis: https://www.ronfrancis.com/
And this is a great source as well: http://www.wiringproducts.com/
I’ve used Painless before. Is it worth the money…? Well, it’s worth not having headaches. The more educated you are on your particular system the better. BUT, I suggest getting a larger count circuit than what you think you need as a minimum. Feel free to shoot me any questions.
Good luck!
Used one on my E30. In hindsight I could have just done it from scratch for a little bit more but exactly how I wanted it.
I have no issues soon it my self just trying to find a clean way to mount relays and make a junction for everything.
I would probably make something like this guy sells http://www.racewiresolutions.com
he wants 1500-1800 a panel for what I would need
I would DIY the harness as well, but thats no surprise.
Here is what I did for the cavalier if you want to take a look.
I used the Bussman fuse panels, and just generic relay sockets hooked together, and mounted to a panel. What I like about the bussman panel is when you add a circuit the terminal you crimp to the wire is the socket for the fuse. So its one less connection vs some other panels.

And what I have started for the cabriolet, which will likely be getting redone now that Ive decided not to use any of the factory wiring.

EDIT: If you want to make a switch panel or any other panel check these guys out. http://www.frontpanelexpress.com/ Ive used them many times to make switch panels and even the background for my gauge cluster.

Painless wiring harnesses are painful. Some things they do don’t make sense. You are better off modifying a stock harness.
