I want to start playing paintball with a group of friends. Not looking to go balls deep right away, just the tip for now. Anyone recommendations on a good starter?
Is a kit like this decent to start off with?

ill sell you an e99 avant with a hopper 2 barrels and a mask for 120 all you need is a tank and a new battery for the e-trigger it shoots semi, 3 rnd, and full auto with a fast and slow firing speed as well barely used the battery i had died from not being used and the tank is passed its hydrotest date
anything that says spyder is junk, tipman makes a slightly better gun but IMO still junk
smart parts went out of business (bankrupt) but you can pick up an ion or even better a shocker on the cheap from ebay and they are super reliable and will deffinately be a nicer gun that any of your friends playing woodsball. you can still get parts and upgrades for them because there are a ton of them out there. I used to play a ton of paintball, was captain of the team at my college (UB) and used to travel every weekend with another 20-25 guys going to different tournaments (we had an a, b, c and d team). At the time i had a tonton shocker which was the tits, sold it for over 1000 for just the bare gun, now you can pick up one for 250-350 on ebay with everything you need. i don’t play anymore, all the local places shut down and my hobbies have grown to be more expensive where i’d rather now not spend 200 a weekend playing ball, but i always had a blast

regardless of what you choose do not buy brand new IDC what gun you get they are all a waste of money brand new, you can have just as much fun with a POS spyder and cheap paintballs as you will with 1500 tied up in useless gear and a gun you will stop giving a shit about in 3 years max

lol like i said that gun i have for sale is barely used, same with my a-5
because it’s junk, they break balls like crazy, have a hard trigger pull, have a stupid slow rate of fire, and use technology thats 20 years old, same with spyder. You can buy a shocker that is a 10x better gun all set up and ready to roll for 100 bucks more, or an ion for probabaly the same price as the one linked. you’ll have 1000000x more fun with an ion shooting ropes vs your buddy with a tippman 98 running a squeegie through the barrel every 5 shots
I had multiple tippmans and never had problems with breaking balls
or you could find a used tippman 98 on craigslist for like 30 bucks and get just as bored of paintball as anyone who spent upwards of 500 on their shit
Plus one on just buy used. I traded my old spyder Java (that was like ten years ago before they started making crap) away for an rc car lol

i used to play speed ball and i cant believe how cheap the guns i was playing with are now.
a dm4 was about $1000 when i was playing now $200.
if i were getting into paintball i would scoop up a dm4. the best bang for your buck.
i used to have a g7 too. they were $$$$$ now few hundred dollars.
shockers do sell for cheap too. but have more problems in my experience than a dm4.
best woodsball gun is the sniper with the q loader.
I used a Tippman 98 Custom when I was a casual player and never had a problem. If you’re looking to have a good time without breaking the bank then it’s the way to go.
I purchased mine from Mohawk Army Navy but I’m not sure if they’re still a vendor. The Tippman is upgradable as well so if you get more into it you can buy the folding stock, upgraded barrel etc.
Tippmann 98. it’s cheap, reliable and simple to work on.
Man up, play paintball with wrist rockets instead.
