Painting Masonry?

So hopefully within the next few months I’ll be able to start painting my basement. Anyone have experience with this. Do I need to use a sealer first? Primer? It appears to already have a stucko-y type finish to it.

Pics available if needed.

Masonry. Get a couple of gallons of UGL Drylok and just paint it. No muss. No fuss.

^^word.

My wife and I just did ours in Drylok. But I will warn you not to estimate the amount needed based on normal paint. Drylok is extra thick and takes a bit more to cover than regular paint does.

+3 for Drylok. Easiest and best way to do it.

then frame it, and finish it after. ballin!

hmm I’ll probably have to get a lot then.

how big is your basement?

honestly I’m not sure the size of it. It just seems like a lot of wall to cover, more than 2 gallons would cover.

for my basement(not sure of the actual dimensions) for regular paint I would say I would need 2 gallons, and we needed 3 of the Drylok.

You won’t need a ton more, but I know i expected 2 gallons, so I bought 2, and ended up having to go back for another.

Alright now there are a few spots, actually one whole wall that has a crack in it. Should I get some sort of filler, concrete, or something?
