Taxes and title was $20XX.XX. Not a biggie for what you get. I called up a friend who does Tax Returns and said the gift tax is about 15% but that can be reduced quite a bit if you save all your lotto tickets purchased throughout the year. Luckily, her mother is an avid NYLotto player and already has a bunch.
Worse case scenerio would be and additional ~$3K. But when you think about it, she was looking to buy a car and was planning on spending more money then that. Now she has a Brand New car (Invoice $21K+) for $5K, likely less.
It’s true, nothing is free…we all know this. But it was still severely reduced in price and even I would rock that as a winter beater for that price.

i saw you yesterday at Northtown when we were picking it up…but you were with some customers.
The taxes have been filed. She ended up paying only $800 to NYS for gift tax plus $2100 for the sales tax and title. So the new car ended up being ~$2900. not bad.
And as an update on the vehicle…it’s actually quite nice. Kia has come a long way in their short life.
