Making this post for a friend, he doesn’t really get online enough to make it himself and check it often. Its a damn shame really. That car came so far from when he first got it, and the problems were mostly fixed when the transmission shit itself. When it ran, it was a quick car. Easily low 14’s in the quarter.
Car is pretty much complete, 200k miles, no rust. Transmission is fried (wrong type of transmission fluid was put in).
Mods on the car:
Jensen Flip out single DIN touchscreen headunit
Tan leather GLE interior swapped in, with tan inserts on the charcoal door. 2-tone looks pretty good actually.
Seats are in really good shape too:
Car has a Fidanza 12lb flywheel that has under 1000 miles on it, as well as an exedy stage 1 clutch (also with under 1000 on it). Pretty sure its also got a stainless clutch line.
Body is very straight other than the front fenders and hood
We originally were looking for a new 5speed for this. Unfortunately, they go for like $800. Engines are easy to find, transmissions are not, as most people who bought maximas in the US got them with automatics. This car had hard starting issues before the transmission died (we think related to a bad crank position sensor damaged during the clutch install) that we were sorting out. Basically, the car just needed too much to be a daily driver, so my friend bought a nice one with half the mileage that starts right up every time, and is making payments. Its an automatic, but its way nicer.
The manual transmission shit itself because it had the wrong fluid type put in (and because the car had 204k on it). Most of the suspension parts are new, and the brakes were done before it snowed.
Call any area junkyards, if you pull it, it can be had for under 300. shit… look around on cl or VG forums… i bet you could find one for cheap by friday
To be honest, once he sells some stuff off it (like the stereo and interior), and things slow down with any offers for parts, I’m tempted to offer to buy it off him for a couple hundred (still more than he’d get scrapping it) and throw it in my garage (well, my parent’s garage), and attempt to rebuild the tranny/find a new one. Then sort out the starting issues. He pretty much wants to try to recoup some money.
Pretty much, he was tired of fixing stuff on it, and really needed something that would just start up and get him to work. Basically, even if the trans was fixed, it still wouldn’t always get him to work.
My parents would probably let me buy it too, especially if it meant I’d fuck with my accord less.
