Similar to Steve’s 65 Vette “Build” (http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?228127-Steve-65-Vette-quot-Build-quot) I took on another project for a good friend of mine this past holiday. He is currently the owner of a highly modified 67 Oldsmobile 442. It has more mods than I can remember but here is a short story of the car:
It was originally built by a friend of Paul’s and him in the 1980s. Paul obtain the car in somewhat rough shape last summer and did a complete overhaul. The specs I am aware of are: 454 with a 6-71 Dyers Blower. 2 600cfm dual feed Holley carbs with Arias pistons and running at 8.5-1. Crane rollers/Crower rods and a steel crank. Trans is a Turbo 400 with a 12 bolt rear and 4:11 gears. Willwood 4-piston up front, tubular control arms and Viking double coilovers. The car is chopped 2 inches and still has the lacquer paint from the 80s.
I was personally involved with the wiring (obviously) on the car but also did a few trick things; keyless ignition, custom dash, upgraded all mechanical pumps to electric, rewired OEM lighting to more modern technology, and installed a custom actuated license plate bracket system I developed.
Here is the car as it sits:
I stumbled upon a 1/25 scale 67 442 coupe model while shopping one day and knew I had to build one. So I did:
Be sure to stop by and say hi the next time you see this car out. He is a great guy, a true friend of mine, and would love to chat!
As an FYI, this was the model I started with:
I frankensteined all the motor pieces, wheels, tires, and parachute from this model (it worked out perfectly):
