With winter being here I decided to do a few upgrades to the SV. I picked the bike up a few years ago and it remained stock until I took the MSF and got a better feel for the bike.
A few pics when it was first purchased:
I purchased a late Xmas present for myself from D2moto. I ended up ordering a integrated tail light, bar ends mirrors and new front turn signals. About a week later this showed up at work
First thing up was the mirrors,

And after with the Bar end mirrors
Next up was the tail. I had made a fender eliminator to hold by until the end of the season and it worked out but it had to go.

And after:
As for the front signals I don’t have any pictures of them mounted, there just your typical short stalk LED blinker. I also need to order a resistor since there LED and blinking to fast for my liking.
Next up will be making a shorty exhaust pipe. I picked a old stock can up for the price of shipping so I wouldn’t have to ruin mine.
This will take some time and haven’t been motivated enough to do it. I will be shortening it by 12" and see how it works out. I may possibly paint up black but not really to sure at this time.
Over all Im happy with the progress that has been made this winter. I would still like to get a rear cowl since I have no need for a passanger seat and some new rubber and then hopefully I can raise to bike back up to stock height since Im short as hell.
looks really nice…the sv is one of the best all around bikes for this area and commuting…love the low end of the twin…and it still gets up in the three digit speeds when necessary…
bike looks really clean with those mods…i would recommend a power commander if you cut the pipe down that far it might make the bike run kinda shitty…
overall looks good keep it up man springs almost here
Good job  those bar end mirrors look very nice, as for the exhaust…remember this: being that it is an older exhaust I would look into repacking it when you take it apart. Also, getting the cut end even enough to fit the end cap is a bitch, Ian and I spent about 20 mins trying to get it flush and even.
Ive researched a few build threads and plan on re packing it. On average people say this a 3 hour project with a few beers. I know it wont be fun and that’s why I haven’t taken it on yet.
Another thing too, just an aesthetic suggestion but buying some black exhaust wrap for it when it’s done might look pretty bad ass, your bike doesn’t have too much chrome so going with a snky snky looking exhaust would be pimp IMO
My buddie rob, rides a SV650 that he sunk some money into. gsxr1000 front end… some other swing arm, a fully adjustable rear shock, wider rear wheel/tire and a buncha other small things. the bike sounds amazing and looks great! never got the chance to take it for a spin, but i love his bike! good luck with your build!
I have seen the Gsxr front end swap on alot of the SV’s there nice but not really for me. I just want the bike to look nice and it handles like I need it too. The bike will honestly never see the track.
Alright Im bumping this up. Within the past few weeks I picked up a rear cowl and cut the donor exhaust down. The bike sounds great but I haven’t had a chance to take it out for a ride to see how it performs.
