Ignorance is bliss. I’m willing to bet that people for this type of press would be outraged if it happened to a relative of theirs. I also believe they with disagree with this until it actually happened.
On another note, I’m all for a mandatory two year enlistment after high school to open eyes and show a greater respect for the liberties active duty provides. Too many take everything they have for granted. I also believe you should do your time before having such criticism since te majority of the public haven’t a fucking clue what they’re talking about.
My respect for the men and women who enlist to fight for our country. With that said, things are a bit different in this day and age with regards to a “mandatory two year enlistment” to “open our eyes”. Back in our grandparents days there werent many options. You became a soldier, worked in a factory, or were one of the few that went forward with an education. Im not saying I would never fight for my country, Id rather be doing it on my home turf though and for the right reasons.
I agree that things are much different these days. The public generally hasn’t a clue what goes on in the military or law enforcement, but they seem to be experts. Offering opinions with little to no facts to back them up. Fucking bleeding hearts…
Even a lot of the people where I am training still have that same sense of self-entitlement. But I’m not certain that has changed, just human nature. Give some they want more. Rather sickening.
