Picked up and 82 Goldwing looking for some direction.

I picked this up from my dad. I’ll start with some pictures because, well, everyone loves pictures.

I’ve wanted a cruiser and a long distance rider for a bit now. This can fit both roles.
For being an 82 this thing is in great shape. There are a few things I have on my winter to do list just to make it fully reliable. I also plan on having two different setups. An around town striped down version and a long haul setup.

What my real question is: Where the best place(s) to source parts for something this old?
I’ve googled a bunch and there’s really not much out there. I’m just looking for advice from anyone who might know more than I do. Someone to point me in the right direction.

Also, if anyone has a suggestions for styles or pictures of well done ones to get ideas I’m all ears.

I’m planning on a full tear down and inspection of everything this winter before I plan a nice long trip next year.

Parts unlimited.
EDIT: Good god that is ugly.

bikebandit is good for oem parts too…

Bike Bandit was great when I ordered from them.

Dime City Cycles has a great selection as well.

That this is FUGLY, but I see potential. Such a unique looking engine.

Windscreen, tail section, and exhaust are all coming off this year. lol I like it though.

And thank you so far guys!

Same PSd with no emblems… I like as well.

Ugly? You guys have no taste. A cherry pre-full-dresser goldwing isn’t ugly, it’s classic.

+1

But I’ll be right back, let me hit the archives of my blog I know I have some sweet goldwings in there…

1000000x better

Bobber (not many of these exist, even less that are well done…everyone is afraid of messing with the shaft drive):

How old’s your son? The first thing I thought of is that bike is begging for a rear seat backrest, a set of hard bags, and a camping trip with the boy. Might be a few years off though IIRC…

He’s 3 but this is actually a big thought as well. I also am going to do a full bag setup and meet up with old Army buddies and do a road trip.

Totally not where you’re trying to go with the project but this is TITS:

Also, what sort of amenities does that thing have?

Cupholder? Radio? Heat?.. A/C!!!

^ yeah that’s one of my favorites. lol

I would not do it with this bike but I have a deep love of rat style. I would totally rock a bike like that.

And lol… this is bare bones as far as accessories. The full faring optioned out ones come with everything from cassette player and air venting to a built in tire inflator.

Goldwings are totally beautiful if they’re modified to the point you don’t recognize they’re goldwings anymore

Newer models have airbags
