Pittspeed computer guru's

So i got a $75 gift card to best buy, my comp is getting kinda dated. Its a Dell 450 Pentium III, 96MB RAM, 16GB HD…

What should i upgrade first? Should i even bother?

i was also thinking if its not worth it i might go for a poweres subwoofer or something, or save it towards the purchase of a new PC…

:dunno:

I wouldn’t even bother. I have a P3 450, and there are a few games that friends at work play that I cannot due to system requirements. P4’s are up around the 3 GHz mark. I would scrap it and get a new one.

Get a Emachine AMD 2700+ and buy a better video card with it and you will be set

you can get another 256MB ram

bb.com has this…

512B RAM
Operates at a speed of 333MHz
184-pin DDR dual in-line memory module (DIMM)

$95, - $35 rebate = $60

:dunno:

I could also get an 80GB HD for about the same amt.
But of course, they dont take gift cards over the interweb so i have to go to the nearest store which is like a 45 in drive…

umm best buy should take gift cards online, everyone else does

if it’s RDRAM then he has to buy it in pairs and its expensive.

sorry to burst the bubble but I doubt a Dell P3 450 uses DDR or RDRAM…most likely it will use SDRAM 100/133mhz but you would have to verify that

no bubble bursted, but i have an older 400Mhz dell with 128MB of RDRAM in it, sitting here.

shit ihave a 450 dell with scsi drives… i have seen them with rdram, but probably sdram is the case.

i use a 450 or below for an internet pc, firewall, email serv, antivirus, but if it’s your ONLY pc… i’d say save up for a new board… 450 won’t cut it.

just my opinion.

save for a new computer

 dont know shti about computers

what do you know quik
