I have a friend at work who has a mid 90s Bonneville with a cracked intake manifold. He bought a new replacement kit abd wants me to install it tomorrow. He also wants to replace the spark plugs and wires at the same time. I’ve looked on google quickly for a write-up but can’t find anything. Does anyone have experience doing this on this car? Can you link me to a write up? Tips? Tricks?
It is super easy. Make sure you have new injector gaskets and that you press the injectors in correctly. One time I did it and the gasket ripped and I had gas all ova…lamo.
Is there a special trick to doing the injectors “correctly”? Is the IM self explanitory once you remove it? I can’t imagine that it can be that hard. Just remove the bolts that hold it on, replace the gasket and then re-install. I’ve never work on domestics just Honda’s and BMW’s so I’m not sure how many differences there really are
try looking for Grand Prix writeups… they are everywhere.
I swapped one of those motors. They are notorious for this problem.
CHECK the oil for coolant. Manifold cracks and coolant tends to find its way into the oil and destroys the main/rod bearings. Make sure you don’t have to do a motor swap later.
seriously this is like a total of 15 bolts/nuts. you do not have to swap injector orings at all. inspect them for cracking. if they are fine simply put vasoline on every one and it will push into it’s hole just fine.
God pat is sexy
that’s what she said

It’s super simple, take off what you need to, clean surfaces, replace in the opposite order it came apart in with new gaskets.
