The orbital from advance will most likey not be able to do any paint corrrection. Two things are needed to use polishes correctly and make them break down. Speed & Heat …
There is always a risk … weather using a PC, UDM, Flex, or Rotary … The risk is less with the PC … and goes up the line
Even with a PC … you have to be carefull around “peaks” and “edges” as paint is thinner in these areas. Also … You just have to know how to use the machine, and how to work the pad on the paint surface
believe it or no i used meguiars #4 on my gp and it took out all the swirls and most of the acid rain…took 5 hours after i applied wax though…lol. My dads buddy told me the most important thing was to do a cross hatching with the orbital to avoid swirls(Side to side then up and down).what other tips would u have??
Are you sure it didn’t just hide them/fill them in because of the oils?
Did you do a 50/50 water/alch. wipe down after?
You want to do 50/50 overlapping passes, starting with up and down, then side to side, then diag. … The reason for this is to work the polish into every different direction posssible
Ok i wanna know if this will work.I was planing on washing my car with Meguiars gold class soap, then putting on meguiars#7, Then finishing the car with either #26 or gold class.Im trying to achieve a nice deep shine that will also be protected for decent amount of time but i dont want to risk damageing the paint in the process.Iv had people look at my paint on my GTP and they have all told me i probably dont want to do a heavy cut like #4 again. So would #7 help mask some of the scratches?if there is objections to my plan let me no.im always up for suggestions.
LOL … Thats what I was figuring … Have you gotten your hands on a UDM yet? … Your more than welcome to borrow mine if you want to try it out
A 50/50 alch/water mix wipedown will remove any and all oils left behind from polishing. Oils will fill in scratches, making them appear to be gone, when really the oils just filled them in, and they will return.
I dont use/care to much for megs compounds. I use Menzerma/Pinnacle compounds, polishes, etc.
I would have to actually see your paint to give you the best advice. I would wash, clay, Menz IP with orange pad if its bad … or white pad if its just minor spots … follow with FP with grey/blue pad … then Pinnacle Souveran by hand and your car will look do deep you’d sware you could dive in!
Id just hate to change from meguiars…i have a ton of product from them.lol.I think it would be next to impossible to be able to sell all my stuff off.So does Pinnacle make good polishes, glazes, and waxes??where is the cheapest place to find there products?Autogeek.net?
Souveran is expensive … but 100% worth it!! … Its one of the most sought after waxes there is. One jar lasts a LONG time … I could let you try my Souveran …
Pinnacle makes good polishes … GREAT waxs … I like Menz Polishes the best
It got the “Souveran” name … which means it has to be worthy for Pinnacle to give it that … It is good … not quite as good as the paste, but a very nice wax. I also have some of that if you would like to try it
according to the pinnacle how 2 vid, it just says the main different between the Souveran paste and liquid wax is the liquid wax has to stay on till it hazes were as the paste can be whipped off shortly after its applied…i have no clue if thats right but thats what it said.lol
If I decide to bring a car down to school, that would be cool. I had it down there for a week or two and took it to good ol’ Sudsy’s. Yikes. Haha. I love my PC, I love it’s idiotproofness.
Liquid Souveran FTW. I got a 3 oz. sample one time, I wish I had a gallon. I use Meguiar’s #26 High Tech Yellow wax for the most part because of the price and it’s readily available. The gloss it gives is good, and really makes the metallic pop. The depth is mediocre, though. My car was silver, so it worked great.
