looks great man!!!

Bought this gem for $1000…

Long story short, I was working on my buddy’s sled that kept flooding out. It backfired and ignited a bunch of gas that was hidden under the engine. We managed to yank it out of the garage to keep the garage from going up, but the sled was long gone. Since it was my mistake (left the exhaust off when trying to fire it up which is a big no-no on 2 strokes) I offered to buy it off him for what it was worth pre-ignition because I was brought up to own up to my mistakes and make things right.

So basically I paid $1000 for a set of arms and a rear grab handle for my 2000 formula z. As well as a motor that will just have to be cleaned out and will possibly be used for a go-kart some day… lol.

I’ll also be buying some new siding for the garage in the near future thanks to the intense heat of plastic, rubber, and 9 gallons of 93 octane fuel… lol.

Garage damage:

Glad to hear that’s all that happened Kenny. Could have been much worse.

car looks sick sbardy

Wanna work on my car?

:rofl

I did the same thing sorta on my sled. It was flooded so I pulled the plugs and rested them on the top of the cylinder head not thinking it through. Pulled it over, it sparked across the plug hole, BOOM BOOM and about 3 foot flames shot out of the head.

Lesson learned.

Second lesson, you can never have a big enough fire extinguisher ready at all times in the shop/garage.

I had one ready… or so I thought. It said full, but as soon as I pulled the handle, it ‘coughed’ and nothing came out. Unfortunately the other 2 I had in there were empty… time for a trip to Harbor Freight for a few 5lb extinguishers… lol

time for a trip to albany fire extinguisher for some shit that is legit…

According to the fireman and fire investigator, the ones at Harbor Freight / Lowes / Home Depot are just as good as the ones from Albany Fire Extinguisher.

volunteers? get a good extinguisher.

ive used kidde extinguishers from walmart with good results. I also replaced them every year or 2 (kept them on the buggy)

Claim that on your insurance… That’s why you have homeowners.

It’s not worth claiming. The siding is a couple hundred bucks at most and the sled was only maybe $1k. I have a $1k deductible and because it wasn’t my sled I would have 2 separate claims. One for the siding (standard homeowners) and one for the sled (liability). Which means when they do the re-rate process in a few years, it will show up as 2 strikes against me and my rates would almost definitely go up. Not worth it. So I chalk it up to a couple good (but mildly expensive) life lessons.

True… Shoulda left in garage… I would be driving by every day looking at a sweet new garage being built and shit…

Definitely not. With most insurances (I’m sure mine is the same) a detached garage or any detached structure is only covered at a maximum of 10% of the total house coverage unless you add additional coverage. Between my bike, Drew’s bike, my new sled, my old sled, the tire machine, tire balancer, all of Drew’s snap on tools, all of my tools I would be well over 2 or 3 times what would have been covered. Not to mention the fire investigator said that if we had not gotten it out of the garage, the house would have sustained a lot of damage as well.

and now i need to go check my policy…
