Post a PIC of your latest purchase.

yeah i know about the TDIs. just a little too pricey for me. they are about 5 to 6k more than my budget. but fuck, a 6mt eco with a tune will get close to 48mpg. Ill drive both and make a call from there. I just want something cheap and new to commute with.

Are they actually calling it a Cruze TDI?

bad ass!!

Dropped WAY too much money on my STi this weekend. It started off as what was hopefully going to be a quick, easy, and cheap brake job and ended up being not so quick, not so easy, and definitely not so cheap.
I knew my front rotors had some grooves in them, but the plan was to bring them over to my dad’s house and use his lathe to just clean them up a bit and then replace all 4 sets of pads. But after getting it apart I found that the front rotors were both heavily grooved and warped and the rear rotors had pretty much nothing left to them. So I ended up having to get all 4 rotors… which ended up cleaning out my bank account… Thankfully Fred at Capitaland hooked me up with some relatively inexpensive racingbrake.com slotted rotors ($130 each) front and rear. I did end up just going with the cheap Wearever Gold pads because I’ve used them on every car I’ve owned and although they SUCK as far as brake dust goes and they don’t last as long as other pads, for the price they are a decent brake pad that gets the job done. Maybe next time I’ll go with some Hawk pads, but these will be fine for now.

I also went ahead and ordered new upper spring seats (mine are worn down real bad from the seized camber plate bearing that Daryl at ASS helped me find a few weeks back) and new parking brake shoes. Hopefully by next weekend everything will be mechanically perfect again… god I hate maintenance… lol.

should have got blanks and some decent pads

spent your money on the wrong place in that scenario

yeah but no one can see your brake pads, duh

The blanks would have to have been ordered and not much less expensive (roughly $10 less each). Since these weren’t that much more and in stock, I went with them so I could get my car back up and running for work today. I really have no use for slotted rotors since I don’t race it and I’m very light on the brakes… and I could care less what they look like… it’s not a show car by any means. I just wanted it back together asap.
