What do you consider junk? I consider $5K for a bike that is going to keep me in great cardio vascular shape and overall health to be money very well spent. Also, only buy what you can afford to buy without plastic.

$5K is nothing to spend on a good bike. I ride with a few guys who have $9K Pinerallo’s/Cervelo’s/Lynsky’s etc. Shit, it keeps you healthy, young is great exercise, I see no problem. Sure, you can get cheaper bikes, but, if you are going to really ride it, might as well get something that you aren’t going to be upgrading in the future.
